Job Description

Location: Orlando/Central Florida

Reports To: Lead Advancement Officer

Works Closely With: Director of Marketing & Communication, Leadership Team

Vision:

To disrupt the cycle of darkness and despair for all who are behind bars and their families by

advancing the Gospel.

Our Mission:

To build and equip an alliance of passionate believers who boldly bring the light, life, and

love of Jesus to the correctional communities of the world.

Position Summary

  • The best candidate is someone who wakes up every day and:
  • Talks to people for a living
  • Has a list of people they’re responsible for
  • Believes in mission-driven work
  • Knows they need to reach out consistently and tracks those interactions
  • Is measured on deepening relationships over time
  • Based in Orlando / Central Florida
  • Can focus on a portfolio of 100–125 donors across the USA currently giving $1,000– $9,999; constantly qualifying and refining that list
  • The goal is simple: deepen engagement and grow giving
  • This is not a heavy travel role. It’s about connection—calls, emails, texts, handwritten notes—making donors feel known and valued.
  • Key moments: Orlando & Chicago Gatherings (these matter—a lot)
  • This is not a “find new donors” role
  • Monthly meetings with the Advancement team for a quarterly portfolio reviews to stay focused on the right 100–125 people
  • When it makes sense, guide donors toward international giving opportunities

Requirements

Year one is about:

  • Follow the plan. Maximize the opportunity. Working together as a team.
  • Strong emphasis on tracking activity in the CRM
  • This isn’t about creating new marketing resources, it’s about using what we have really well, with a personal touch
  • Not a “build spreadsheets” role—but good tracking and reporting absolutely matters

Your Portfolio

  • Heavy concentration in Central Florida and Chicagoland
  • Includes international church donors
  • And your core: 100–125 mid-tier donors, evolving quarterly as you qualify and prioritize

Why Orlando?

  • Proximity to major donors and key churches to engage
  • Opportunity to grow international church engagement
  • Being on the ground to help build great Gatherings

What Success Looks Like in Year One

  • Strong donor retention (especially recurring givers)
  • Increased average gift size across your portfolio
  • A clear pipeline of future major donors
  • Donors saying: “I feel more connected than ever.”

How You Win

Consistency beats complexity.

Each donor should experience:

  • 1–2 personal touches (call, note, email)
  • 4–6 meaningful ministry updates
  • 1–2 tailored invitations to give

No random, reactive outreach—be intentional.

Weekly Activity Targets

  • Calls: 50–75
  • Emails: 25–50 (personalized, not mass)
  • Handwritten notes: 5–10
  • Real conversations: 10–20

A Couple Honest Insights

This role can easily drift into “glorified email sender” if you’re not careful.

  • The difference-maker is personalization at scale:
  • Not quite major gifts
  • Not mass marketing
  • But consistent, human, relational connection

If your calendar fills up with meetings, projects, or internal work—and you’re not talking to

donors regularly—this role won’t work.

To succeed in this role, you must value:

  • Conversations
  • Relationships
  • Invitations

About the Good News Global

Founded in 1961, Good News Global is a Christian outreach that provides chaplains, volunteers, counseling, and educational programs to jails and prisons in 21 US states and 24 countries or territories worldwide. Good News believes that each one of the 9.6 million (2.3 million US) people incarcerated in the world today represents a broken life and a family in pain. Yet they also embody amazing opportunities for hope, healing, hearts to be made whole, and lives to be given to Christ. When this happens, the transformational changes that result are carried forward exponentially and experienced eternally.

In the United States over 7.2 million Americans are on probation, in jail or prison, or on parole. That’s approximately 1 in every 32 adults. Most of the people behind bars are not there for life. 95% of the men and women in our jails and prisons right now will be back in society.

Good News Global is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, fully funded through gifts and donations from businesses, churches, foundations, and individuals committed to seeing lives and families restored and patterns of generational violence broken forever.
