Senior Pastor

SEEKING SENIOR PASTOR – Morganton First Church of God in Morganton, NC is actively searching for a full-time Senior Pastor for our church. We have a strong foundation of approximately 45 years of ministry. We are located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina in a town of approximately 20,000. We have regular attendance of about 110 each Sunday, and currently offer one Sunday morning service, and Wednesday evening youth, children, and adult programs. 

We are seeking a creative visionary with a hunger for the presence of God and for leading others there. The ideal candidate for this position will: 

• demonstrate a lifestyle of holiness and biblical wisdom.
• keep an unwavering commitment to following the leading of the Holy Spirit as he leads our members. 
• possess strong leadership skills that empower others to walk in their kingdom purpose.
• Be a skilled communicator that is gifted to preach, teach, and exhort in a practical and effective manner.
• Be skilled in conflict resolution. 

·      Be passionate about building a strong ministry team and developing new leaders from within the congregation. 

·      Receive spiritual support and encouragement from the elder team

·      Preferred: ordained or seeking ordination

OUR STORY

Affiliated with the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana, Morganton 1st Church of God is a Protestant congregation of approximately 200 people offering worship services, Sunday school, small group Bible studies, youth programs, children’s programs, music programs, etc. to lead men, women, and children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are a soul-winning, praying, praising people. Our worship services are structured to allow many different styles and generations to worship together. We offer praising services to praying services, and preaching services to dramatic plays.

You may be wondering why our congregation numbers are given as approximate. We do not keep formal membership rosters and consider ourselves a “reformation movement” rather than a “denomination”. The Church of God firmly believes in the Word of God in Acts 2:47–”and God added to the Church daily those who were being saved”. Therefore, as persons are saved, they become members of God’s great Church. The Church of God recognizes all true Christians, by their own declaration of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and regardless of denomination, as fellow members of God’s Church. Each congregation of the Church of God establishes their own set of by-laws to govern the operation of the local church, but the Holy Bible is our only source for doctrine.
