Lead Pastor

We are Baytown Community Church, located in Baytown, Texas, looking for a Lead Elder/Pastor. The city of Baytown is a booming Texas coastal community poised for growth where industry, opportunity, and hometown charm come together. Located just 30 minutes east of downtown Houston, we have access to all that a big city offers, while all the charm of a small town.

As our pastor, we will look to you for preaching and teaching, pastoral care (may include counseling, and visitation), church administration, and community engagement, typical of a senior pastor for a modest local church. We seek a man who genuinely loves Jesus Christ and his fellow believers (Philippians 2:20), humbly seeks God's direction (James 4:10), and willingly demonstrates servant leadership, boldly leading where God directs (Ephesians 6:19).

Baytown Community Church (BCC) is a small (75-100) yet faithful and enduring body. We started in-home meetings in 1979. We began to grow and looked to build a church building of our own. In 1983, after praying for God's direction we were able to purchase five acres and build our building, debt-free. Our congregation is comprised of

multi-generational believers, new believers, and seekers.

We are elder led and supported by deacons. Our core values are commitment to God, to His Word, to fellow believers, evangelism, discipleship, and leadership development. To help accomplish these goals, we have organized ministries of Sunday School, worship teams, home fellowship groups, youth groups, and men's and women's ministries.

We have a heavy emphasis on missions and support multiple full-time, international and stateside missionaries as

well.

Requirements:

1. Meet qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-8, 1 Peter 6:1-5
2. Serve as the teacher and preacher for weekly sermons. Plan and lead Sunday services.
3. Experience with expository, verse-by-verse preaching and teaching, is preferred.
4. Ability to articulate the benefits of a dispensational view of Scripture.
5. Must affirm and agree with the BCC statement of faith. https://www.baytowncommunity.church
6. Possess biblical and theological knowledge, preferably from seminary training, Bible college, or systematic training within a local church.
7. Have demonstrated ability to study, exegete, prepare, and present Bible teaching in a relevant and relatable manner.
8. Facilitate and oversee general administrative needs such as budget, building maintenance, etc. Serve as the central point person for church communication.
9. Experience in shepherding a church through the pastorate or active eldership, is preferred.
10. Experience in developing in spiritual leaders, especially those in the college and early career stages of life, is preferred.
11. Experience in encouraging and exhorting groups in evangelism, as well as planning and executing evangelistic outreach in the community, is preferred.
