Job Description

COMMUNITY CHURCH OF GREAT NECK (CCGN)

Position Opening: English Minister

2 Stoner Avenue, Great Neck, NY 11021 | ccgn.org | psc@ccgn.org | Affiliated with OCMA

An Invitation to Build

This is not a posting for someone looking to maintain. It is an invitation to a pastor who wants to plant roots, build a ministry from the ground up, and serve in one of the most strategically positioned Chinese evangelical churches on Long Island.

We will be honest with you: our English service is small. A number of our English-speaking families have migrated to larger, more programmed churches nearby. We know why, and we are not pretending otherwise. What we are telling you is that this is exactly the moment to come, because the foundation is here, the neighborhood is right, and the person who arrives now will have the freedom and the support to build something lasting.

No other Chinese evangelical church is doing English ministry inside Great Neck. The community is growing. The families are here. The building is ours. What is missing is the right pastor.

The Neighborhood

Great Neck is one of Long Island's most sought-after communities. Young families, many of them Chinese-American and first-generation immigrant households, are moving here specifically for the schools and quality of life. These are exactly the families a bilingual Chinese church is built to serve. Great Neck's public schools rank among the top in New York State at every level.

About CCGN

Community Church of Great Neck (CCGN) was founded in 1914. In 1998, an English-speaking congregation and a Chinese congregation merged into one body. Today we hold three Sunday services -- English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. We are affiliated with OCMA and committed to Worship, Evangelism, Fellowship, Discipleship, and Service. We own our building at 2 Stoner Avenue in the heart of Great Neck. Our pastoral team is in place and ready to welcome and support the right English Minister.

The Role

The English Minister is a lead pastoral role for CCGN's English-language congregation and youth ministry, appointed per CCGN By-Laws (Art. VII Sec. 5). You will work closely with the pastoral team and have meaningful ownership of the English ministry's direction.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead and preach in the Sunday English worship service. Build and lead the youth and young adult ministry. Provide pastoral care to the English congregation and their families. Develop small groups, Sunday school, and discipleship pathways. Engage the broader Great Neck community through outreach and relationship-building. Serve as a bridge between the English and Chinese-speaking congregations. Collaborate with the pastoral team and E&D Board on church-wide vision.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a pastor who is theologically grounded, relationally gifted, and genuinely excited about the Chinese-American community and its next generation.

Required: Seminary degree with a minimum of 72 credit hours; ordained or pursuing ordination. Minimum 3 years of full-time church ministry experience. Fluency in English; Chinese bilingual strongly preferred (Mandarin and/or Cantonese). Genuine calling and clear personal testimony of faith in Jesus Christ. Heart for youth and families. Affirms CCGN's Statement of Faith in full (ccgn.org/faith/). Humble, caring, and collaborative team player. Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred: Experience in a Chinese-heritage or Asian-American church context. Culturally attuned to first-generation immigrant families and their English-speaking children. Track record of building or revitalizing a youth or young adult ministry. Familiarity with the OCMA network and Chinese evangelical community.

Compensation

Part-time position, with a genuine opportunity to grow into full-time as the ministry grows. Compensation range to be determined by the E&D Board, commensurate with experience.
