1. Job Description
Title: Pastor/Teaching Elder
Hours: Full time position
Job Summary: The Pastor/Teaching Elder is accountable to the members of LSC working alongside the elders. The Pastor will be considered one of the elders with equal authority and responsibility. The Pastor/Teaching Elder will provide spiritual leadership to the congregation of LSC, with primary ministries in Preaching, Teaching, and Pastoral Care/shepherding. (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5)
Responsibilities
Preaching/ Teaching/Shepherding (2Tim. 4:2, 2Tim. 2:25, 1Tim. 6:19,20)
Lead/Teach Membership Class
Guard against false doctrine and teaching (1 Peter 5:8)
Support elders, and direct administrative staff (1Peter 5:1-3)
Other responsibilities as agreed upon with the Board of Elders.
Qualifications
Degrees: It is desired that the Pastor will have a bachelor’s in ministry, or related field from an accredited Bible College.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience of at least 3 years in a paid ministerial position.
Adheres to biblical principles of leaders as set forth in I Tim. 3:1-13 and 2Tim 2:24
Maintain a personal relationship with God, characterized by a lifestyle of worship through prayer, Bible study, and pursuit of holiness (1Tim. 4:6)
Must be in total agreement on every point of LSC Statement of Faith (attached)
2. Probationary period
It is expected that the candidate will serve a “probationary period” of three months during which he will work closely with the elders to build relationships with all elders, the membership, demonstrate his preaching and teaching ability, and show leadership in spiritual matters. The elders may choose to release the candidate from service without stating a cause during the probationary period.
3. Job Specifications
Pastoral, teaching and preaching
Strive to meet the spiritual needs of the congregation through various ministries at LSC (1Tim.6:19, Eph. 4:12-13)
Work with the elders to reach the local Hispanic community
Provides pastoral care through visitation, counseling and prayer
Attend and participate in elder meetings, retreats, and budgeting sessions
Perform baptisms, weddings, funerals, and communion
Serve alongside other members of the Body of Christ in the fulfillment of the Great Commission (2Tim. 4:5, 1Tim 4:10)
Believe in the Bible as God’s Holy Word without errors or ambiguity (1 Cor 2:7-14, 2 Peter 1:20,21, 2 Tim 3:15-17, Genesis 1:31, 2 Cor 2:13)
Conduct a weekly “sermon chat” reviewing the upcoming message with the elders.
Administration
Guide the administration and management of the church’s ministry in consultation and in agreement with the Elder Board
Work closely with the elders to identify ministry priorities and create an annual sermon plan. (1Peter5:1-3)
Leadership
Provide effective leadership in relationships with the elders, deacons, and congregation
Mentor the administrative staff in cooperation and agreement with a designated elder.
4. Compensation Package
Negotiable pending experience level
Depending on successful candidate’s needs, compensation may be allocated to:

Includes 2 weeks of paid vacation per year
Additional compensation in the form of elder encouraged training, travel, and ministry-related expenses as deemed appropriate by the Board of Elders.
