Job Description

At Daystar Church, we look for leaders who are passionate about the local church and about seeing students discover who God made them to be. As a multi-campus church with locations in Cullman, Hartselle, Madison, Foley — plus an international campus in Uganda and an Online Campus — we're united around one vision, carried out by teams who love God, love people, and pour themselves out for the next generation. This role reports directly to the Hartselle Campus Pastor, with a secondary reporting line to the Global Student Pastor, and serves as the point leader for Students and Young Adults on the Hartselle Campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, lead, and shepherd teams across Daystar Students at the Hartselle Campus.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute weekly student services and events through Planning Center, including volunteer scheduling and attendance.
  • Prepare and preach the Gospel to students each week in service.
  • Lead the weekly leader huddle ahead of MDWK services and stay connected with student volunteers throughout the week.
  • Recruit, train, and onboard new volunteers and leaders for Student Ministry.
  • Meet monthly with Student Team Coaches, Small Group Leaders, and students/parents to give leadership development, coaching, and check-ins.
  • Plan and launch dedicated Young Adult small groups each semester (Fall, Spring, Summer) built for spiritual growth and authentic community.
  • Identify and mentor teens and young adults toward future roles as co-leaders, hosts, and team members.
  • Coordinate quarterly UNITE logistics — transportation, set-up, and tear-down — and represent Hartselle in Student Lead Team and Global Student creative meetings.
  • Lead or assist with Student Summer Camp, the Student Summer Internship, and the Student Leadership Program each Fall and Spring.
  • Champion special projects as they arise, including sports chaplaincy and outreach initiatives, and other duties assigned by the Campus Pastor.

MUST-HAVES

  • A growing, personal walk with God and a genuine passion for the local church and Daystar's vision.
  • Committed and personally invested in the well-being and success of the Hartselle Campus, Daystar Students, and Daystar Young Adults.
  • Highly self-motivated, self-managed, and comfortable owning a calendar full of moving pieces.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to recruit, build, and motivate volunteer teams.
  • A problem-solver with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A positive, servant-hearted, Christ-like attitude — someone who's enjoyable to be around and fun to work alongside.
  • Excellent and efficient work ethic. A good steward of both time and money.

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Prior experience in Student or Young Adult ministry, paid or volunteer.
  • Familiarity with Planning Center Services and Check-Ins.
  • Experience recruiting and developing volunteer leaders in a fast-paced ministry environment.

DAY-TO-DAY

  • We’re a Sunday-Thursday work environment. Monday-Thursday, we’re in the office (8:00AM to 4:30PM) or actively meeting with church members; on Tuesday’s we meet at Cullman campus for All Staff; on Sunday, we’re supporting the weekend worship experience either directly in our roles or by choosing a weekly serving opportunity.
  • Wednesdays center on MDWK — leading the leader huddle, then executing the service you've spent the week planning with your team.
  • Expect a monthly and quarterly cadence, too — reviewing ministry goals, coaching Small Group Leaders, and gearing up for UNITE, camp, and creative meetings on a recurring basis.
  • We work hard and we genuinely enjoy each other. A spirit of excellence matters to us, but so does having fun along the way.
  • You'll grow here. Between coaching from your Campus Pastor and check-ins with the Global Student Pastor, development is built into the role. Our staff culture is one where you will find healthy ministry boundaries for your personal and family time. We protect it because it’s important.
  • We expect you to be disciplined in your spiritual practices - be in your Bible, spend time with the Lord in prayer, meditate on and apply the weekly sermon.
  • Bring your full self to every project, conversation, and initiative at hand.
