Position Title: Charleston Campus AYouth Pastor

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This job description provides a comprehensive overview of the responsibilities and duties

expected of the AYouth Pastor, emphasizing their role in leading and pastoring the youth of

Awaken Church in alignment with the greater mission to create disciples that Know God, Find

Freedom, Discover Purpose, and Make a Difference.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Engagement:

Develop and execute planned student gatherings that lead to movement in the lives of students

toward increased engagement in the vision and mission of Awaken Church. These gatherings

include, but are not limited to regularly occurring youth nights, small groups, youth events,

serving events, youth camps, church-wide and campus-wide events, etc.

Student Discipleship and Growth:

Propose under the direction of the Directional Leadership Team curriculum that aligns with the

beliefs and values of Awaken Church. Execute the implementation of the curriculum through the

ownership of regular teaching and facilitation of the curriculum at youth nights. Create and drive a culture of Relational Discipleship within the youth ministry through small

group based discipleship and development. Work with coaches, leaders, and team members to

create small group environments that lead students to Know God and Find Freedom through the

context of relationships.

Work with the CHS Campus Pastor and Campus Team Leads to assist students in Discovering

their Purpose by serving with Sunday serve teams where appropriate and applicable.

Parental Engagement:

Create pathways to engage parents through clear communication, family support, and parental

involvement into the vision and mission of the youth ministry at Awaken Church. Develop ways

to build credibility and partner with families and parents to drive deeper levels of discipleship

within the home.

Leadership Pipeline and Team Development:

Provide opportunities for adults to engage in leading and serving within the youth ministry.

Provide personalized care and development for coaches, leaders, and team members through

team workshops, leader events, and other relevant events to build culture and cast vision. Lead

team members to be involved in the vision and mission of the church along with ongoing growth

in the youth ministry.

Community Engagement and Outreach:

Innovate opportunities for youth and youth team members to serve in the community to Make a

Difference. Create pathways to engage the local community for the purpose of local outreach

(invitation) and local missions (service).

Additional Delegated Campus Responsibilities:

This position includes the potential to absorb additional roles and responsibilities as needed to

support campus/church grow. Agreement upon those needs are discussed between the CHS

Campus Pastor, Directional Leadership Team, and CHS Campus AYouth Pastor when the need

is introduced. These additions are to be written in an addendum to the position.

KEY MEASURABLES AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Below are metrics and indicators of ownership and success by which positional success will be

evaluated. Measurable metrics will be determined by campus level goals and subject to

agreement between the CHS Worship Director, CHS Campus Pastor, and Executive Pastor.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Devote the whole of your time, attention and skill during normal business hours, and at

other times as reasonably necessary, to your duties;

• Faithfully and diligently perform the duties and exercise the powers consistent with your

position as assigned to you from time to time;

• Comply with all lawful directions given to you by any person duly authorized from time to

time;

• Use your best endeavors to promote and enhance the interests, welfare, business, growth

and reputation of the Church;

SKILL, ABILITY & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 3 years vocational experience in youth/student/family ministry or relevant

equivalent experience.

• Experience with crafting and delivering content, sermons, or devotions from the platform.

• Prior experience developing, implementing, and growing small group or relational

discipleship environments.

• Experience with people based management softwares and databases.

• High school diploma required, higher-ed degree preferred.

Our Charleston Campus, which is our broadcast location, is located in the North Charleston/West Ashley area. Our Summerville Campus is portable and meets weekly in the Cane Bay area.
