Children's Pastor
The Children's Pastor provides vision, leadership, and oversight for the children's ministry (birth through 5th grade) by creating safe, engaging, Christ-centered environments where children encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, and learn to live as His disciples. This leader equips parents as the primary spiritual influence in their children's lives while building and leading healthy volunteer teams. The Children's Pastor serves as a member of the pastoral staff and helps advance the overall mission and vision of Hope Point Church.
Spiritual Leadership
- Model a growing, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Live in accordance with the beliefs and values of the Church of the Nazarene.
- Pray regularly for children, families, volunteers, and the church.
- Participate fully in the life and ministry of Hope Point Church.
Vision & Leadership
- Develop and communicate a compelling vision for children's ministry.
- Lead ministry for infants through fifth grade.
- Create environments where children know they are loved, welcomed, and challenged to follow Jesus.
- Ensure every ministry experience is biblically sound, engaging, and age appropriate.
- Develop pathways that help children move toward becoming lifelong followers of Christ.
Volunteer Development
- Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage ministry volunteers.
- Build healthy ministry teams rather than simply filling positions.
- Provide ongoing leadership development and coaching.
- Celebrate volunteers regularly and cultivate a culture of appreciation.
- Ensure all volunteers complete background checks and safety training.
Parent Partnership
- Equip parents to disciple their children at home.
- Communicate consistently with families through email, social media, and church communication platforms.
- Offer resources that encourage faith conversations throughout the week.
- Be available to pray with and support families.
Weekend Ministry
- Plan and oversee all Sunday children's ministry experiences.
- Coordinate worship, teaching, small groups, check-in, and volunteer teams.
- Ensure classrooms are safe, clean, welcoming, and prepared.
- Maintain excellence in first impressions and guest follow-up.
Midweek & Special Events

Safety & Administration
- Maintain secure child check-in procedures.
- Implement and oversee child protection policies.
- Manage ministry budget responsibly.
- Keep classrooms organized and supplied.
- Maintain volunteer schedules and ministry database.
- Evaluate ministry effectiveness through measurable goals.
Staff Expectations
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Participate in church-wide events.
- Support the overall vision of Hope Point Church.
- Work collaboratively with all ministry departments.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a servant-hearted attitude.
- Invest in personal and professional growth.
Qualifications
Required
- A vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Agreement with the doctrines and mission of the Church of the Nazarene.
- A clear calling to children's ministry.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and volunteers.
- Ability to recruit, develop, and empower leaders.
- Ability to teach God's Word creatively and effectively.
- Experience leading volunteer teams.
Preferred
- Ministry degree or equivalent ministry experience.
- Licensed or willing to pursue licensing through the Church of the Nazarene.
- Three or more years of children's ministry leadership experience.
