Job Description
Position: Modern Worship Leader
Reports to: Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor, SPRC
Advisory and Volunteer Group: Modern Worship Committee
Job Status and Hours: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt (generally 15 hrs/Week)
Function: This position is responsible for planning, preparation, rehearsal, and volunteer recruitment to conduct a weekly Modern Worship service. The scope of preparation includes planning for each service, recruitment of volunteers, rehearsal for musicians, and leading the Sunday Morning service with excitement and energy. Must be able to relate with and develop youth aged volunteers who assist with slides, sound, and some musical involvement. Current rehearsal times are held on Wednesday evenings, and services are conducted on Sunday Mornings. Additional services are subject to special seasons in the life of the Church including but not limited to Lent, Easter, Advent, and Christmas Eve.
Specific Area Job Responsibilities Include:
· Utilizing Planning Center, Canva, and other programs to plan for worship each week within the scope of any given worship series.
· Work alongside the greater worship team to collaborate whenever necessary, but in all things ensure a consistent message is offered across all worship services.
· Recruiting and equipping volunteers to serve as musicians, hospitality, ushers, scripture readers, and tech crew.
· Conducting a weekly rehearsal with musicians to prepare for Sunday Morning Worship services.
· Leading worship with an engaging and exciting presence that encourages attendees to participate in the worship experience.
· Developing slide presentations each week that communicate the contents of the worship service while also communicating the broader news within the congregation.
· Remaining flexible when unexpected situations arise during worship services.
· Providing training, direction, and constructive feedback to volunteers.
· Creating opportunities for volunteers of all ages to participate in the modern worship service, allowing for growth in the confidence, leadership, and teamwork of the volunteers.
· Communicating with volunteers regarding practice schedules, rehearsals, and setting expectations.
· Working with sound and video volunteers to address needs for services well in advance.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a member of a modern worship team and/or leading a praise band is preferred
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work with provided technology including computers, sound equipment, and other devices necessary for worship
Strong vocal ability is a must, and instrumental proficiency on keyboard and/or guitar is a plus
Ability to recruit, develop, and direct a volunteer team to assist with hospitality, ushers, scripture readers, and other necessary elements for the worship service
Experience working with youth volunteers is a plus
Flexibility and willingness to embrace change
