The Pine Terrace Baptist Church Preschool Director serves to lead and give overall direction for the Preschool Ministry (babies - kindergarten). This role reports to the Executive Pastor. This role includes working alongside the PTBC staff to further the overall mission of PTBC in and through preschoolers, their families, and preschool ministry volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
Ministry Leadership and Oversight
- Oversee all aspects of Preschool Ministries (Babies - Kindergarten), maintaining a team of equipped volunteers to minister to children effectively.
- Lead Preschool Ministries Sunday morning (Connections small groups and Worship hour), Sunday evening (Preschool Choir and Childcare), and Wednesday evening (Awana Puggles and Cubbies, and babies and toddlers childcare).
- Manage a team of paid childcare staff, including staff training and ongoing recruitment.
Sunday and Wednesday Ministry Leadership
- Oversee check-in process and address any issues that arise before and after services.
- Ensure each volunteer position in the preschool ministry is covered by a background checked, trained ministry volunteer.
- Meet and greet parents as they arrive with their children.
- Ensure accurate attendance records are kept throughout the ministry time.
- Visit classrooms and provide ongoing support to volunteers throughout the ministry time.
Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and Care
- Recruit, train, and develop high-quality volunteers to serve in the ministry.
- Manage volunteer background checks and Child Protection Policy training in the Ministry Safe Database.
- Provide ongoing training in classroom management, student engagement, and ministry best practices.
- Maintain communication with volunteers about serving schedules, policies and procedures, classroom needs, etc.
- Encourage and care for volunteers by checking in on their spiritual health and recognizing their contributions.
Parental Engagement and Support
- Act as a communicator and partner for preschool parents, equipping them to disciple their children.
- Reach out to families when a new baby is born, taking a welcome gift to the family.
- Meet with parents as needed to address concerns and provide encouragement.
- Visit preschoolers and parents in the hospital when the situation arises.
Program Development and Events
- Alongside the Senior Pastor, lead Parent and Child Commitment services and training meetings.
- In conjunction with the Kids Director, plan, staff, and lead preschool VBS for babies - 4’s of volunteers, and children entering Kindergarten from the community.
- Assist with family events such as Fall Fest, Christmas events, Summer Family Fun Nights, etc.
- Assist with the West Region Sunday School Training Conference by identifying and securing preschool ministry breakout speakers.
- Participate in Monday night visitation monthly.
Budget and Administration
- Develop and oversee the Preschool Ministry budget, ensuring resources are used effectively and responsibly.
- Track growth trends to anticipate and plan for ministry expansion.
- Maintain compliance with safety and security best practices and church policies.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Belief Alignment: Has a personal relationship with Jesus, ongoing spiritual growth, and agrees with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
- Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage volunteers, and ministry programs.
- Passion for Families: A heart for preschoolers and their parents, with a focus on fostering discipleship within families.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to connect with preschoolers, volunteers, and families.
- Interpersonal Skills: Superior communication and relationship-building abilities with parents, preschoolers, staff, and church leadership.
- Project Management: Experience in organizing and executing programs, events, and projects with attention to detail.
- Administrative Strength: Strong budgeting, organizational, and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving: A positive, solution-oriented approach to addressing challenges and meeting goals.
Experience and Credentials: Bachelors preferred; financial assistance available for an accredited SBC college or SBC seminary masters degree; prior ministry experience preferred.
