Community Description: Tega Cay, South Carolina, is a small city located 15 miles south of uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. On the shores of Lake Wylie, this once weekend getaway community is rapidly becoming one of the prime residential locations for the greater Charlotte area. Tega Cay is a middle- to upper-income community. Residents lean conservative politically, and most are “unchurched.” Over the past decade, the city has grown significantly in both numbers and cultural diversity. This growth has brought new commercial and retail development along with numerous residential subdivisions. The community also boasts a top-performing public school system that continues to attract families to our area.

Job Description: Tega Cay Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a Senior Pastor to be the spiritual leader and shepherd of our congregation who will help guide and grow our church into what we are called to be. As part of the elder body, he will assist in implementing our vision to love God, love people, and make more and better disciples, with an emphasis on ministering to the spiritual needs of our church family, the surrounding community, and the lost around the world.

Responsibilities: The following is a representation of expectations, not an exhaustive list of job duties.

● Prayerfully prepare and faithfully preach God’s Word, providing biblically grounded teaching that promotes spiritual growth and application.

● Provide spiritual leadership for weekly worship services, collaborating with the elders and worship leader to ensure Christ-centered and biblically grounded worship.

● Administer the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and Baptism in accordance with Scripture.

● Shepherd and care for the congregation through intentional relationships, counseling, weddings, visitation, and other pastoral care needs.

● Cultivate a culture of prayer, discipleship, and spiritual growth while equipping believers to mature in their faith, use their gifts, and make disciples.

● Model a Christ-centered life characterized by faithfulness, prayer, humility, integrity, and spiritual maturity.

● As a fellow elder and first among equals, partner with the elders to prayerfully establish, communicate, and advance the church’s vision and goals, while developing lay leaders for ministry.

● Champion evangelism and community outreach by participating in and encouraging the congregation to share the Gospel, serve others, and build relationships in Tega Cay and surrounding communities.

● Equip and develop ministry leaders and members through biblical teaching, mentoring, encouragement, and opportunities to serve and lead.

● Welcome and encourage new members and lead new member discovery classes.

● Lead, manage, and support church staff, both ministerial and non-ministerial, fostering a collaborative environment that enables them to fulfill their callings effectively.

● Pursue ongoing spiritual and professional development through prayer, study, continuing education, and relationships with other ministry leaders.

Personal Character and Spiritual Gifts:

● Meets the qualifications for an elder as laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.

● Seeks to follow Christ daily under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

● Commits to lifelong personal spiritual growth through prayer and study of the Word.

● Leads as a humble servant leader.

● Teaches and ministers competently from the entire Bible.

● Builds relationships with people of varying backgrounds, life stages, and personalities.

● Desires to lead individuals to the saving knowledge of Christ.

Qualifications and Expectations:

● Bachelor’s degree with some seminary required; Master of Divinity or Master of Ministry preferred.

● Three or more years of pastoral experience required; senior pastoral experience preferred.

● Experience developing lay leaders, discipleship ministries, and evangelism efforts required.

● Experience working within an elder-led church leadership structure preferred.

● Currently resides or is willing to relocate within 30 minutes of Tega Cay.

● Maintain a full-time, on-campus working schedule at the church office.
