Job Description
Reading Coach
Hours: 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday with occasional Friday work.
Job:
One-on-one reading intervention to individual students in Christian, private and Catholic schools. We provide the curriculum and the training. We are looking for someone who loves kids, appreciates reading, and wants to help struggling kids grow in confidence and learn to read. Kids are mostly elementary school age, and some in middle school. The biggest job requirement is to inspire and walk kids through the curriculum that we train you in. Our program is Orton-Gillingham based, easy to follow and it works well. We help kids who have been assessed for dyslexia and struggle to keep up with their peers in reading and writing. Most students are with us for two and half to four years so you will really get to know them and their families.
Special skills:
If you have previous teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience that is helpful. We prefer candidates who have at least a bachelor's degree. We also teach writing so if you have any experience with writing or journalism that is helpful. We consider candidates with all different backgrounds and are looking for folks that fit our culture, want to inspire kids, and can learn quickly.
