Job Description

Job Overview

Forestdale Church is a small, established church with a long history within the Sandwich community, dating back to the 1850’s. We are looking for a pastor who will help us continue our spiritual growth as maturing Christians, both as individuals as well as through our impact within the community. We believe God has called us to demonstrate His love through various outreach efforts throughout the upper and mid-cape communities, as well as the world, and are currently working to fulfill that calling as we are able. We seek a vibrant leader who will advance the Lord’s work through leadership and teaching, guiding and challenging us all to be more like Him in our daily walk with the Lord.

Job Description

His ministry efforts must be Gospel centered and Great Commission minded. He is a team player, other centered and desires to raise up the next generation of godly people for future leadership.

The Qualifications

We require a man that meets the qualifications in I Timothy 3 and Titus. The preferred minimum education is an MDiv or working toward an MDiv along with some pastoral experience. About Forestdale Church

Forestdale Church is a quaint, non-denominational church nestled in the beautiful coastal vacation town of Sandwich, Massachusetts. Currently, it has approximately 30 members and a Sunday attendance size of up to 70. At Forestdale Church we are focused on the authority of Jesus Christ and the veracious account of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.

Forestdale Church began its life as a Methodist Church in the early 1850’s, and is on the commercial map of Sandwich of 1857. It was located across the street from its present location, and a cemetery was built next to it. Over the years it transitioned to a Northern Baptist denomination, and then to an association with the Conservative Baptists of America. Due to increased traffic and the need for winterized facilities, the church was moved across the street to its present location, on a donated parcel of two acres, in 1954. A basement with a fellowship hall, kitchen and bathrooms were added, along with rear offices and a nursery. In 1959 the church bought a US Army surplus Officer’s Day Quarters from nearby Camp Edwards for one dollar, and it was moved to the present site with an added basement, to serve as a parsonage. In the early 1980’s the church added an addition in front, with accompanying basement, to handle increasing attendance. In the 1990’s a new parsonage was built behind the old parsonage and the old parsonage became the church office building. In the early 2000’s the church added on to the new parsonage, and several years later bought a 2-acre parcel next to the existing church lot. Shortly after this, the church decided to become a non-denominational church, in order to facilitate greater outreach to the community.

Forestdale Church is very active in its community. We have hosted several summer “kid’s days” where families in the community would come and enjoy a host of different activities, (i.e. inflatable water slides, bounce houses, games, music, food, and a raffle to win 1 of 12 backpacks filled with back-to-school supplies). We also supply volunteers at Faith Family Kitchen (soup kitchen for the homeless), and the Baby Center (a non-profit organization on Cape that provides free supplies to those with small children).
