The primary function of the Associate Pastor of Children and Family Ministries is to lead and disciple babies through college age into a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. This individual will recruit and train volunteers, plan, implement, oversee, teach, and evaluate the programs of the family ministry and build a family ministry that fits into the overall vision of Piney Grove Chapel. In addition, this individual will lead and directly oversee the children’s ministries (birth-6th grade). He will foster and create opportunities for Piney Grove Chapel to connect with the community as well as guests.
SALARY: $50,000-$65,000
REPORTS TO:
The Associate Pastor of Children and Family Ministries is responsible to the church & reports to Sr. Pastor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work in conjunction with the Children’s Ministry Council (CMC) to plan discipleship, service and outreach opportunities, as well as activities for the children’s ministry calendar.
• Work in conjunction with the CMC to recruit volunteer adult leaders who passionately invest in the children’s ministry.
• Provide pastoral care & leadership training opportunities to the CMC and volunteers.
• Partner with and provide pastoral care to children and parents of the children’s ministry.
• Build supportive relationships with parents; provide resources to help them disciple their children.
• Foster a welcoming environment where children are known, valued, loved, and equipped to fulfill their ministry calling and live out the Gospel.
• Lead Wednesday evening weekly activities by overseeing, providing sound biblical teaching, and offering enjoyable events that are relevant and engaging to children.
• Lead Sunday morning Kid’s Church and activities by overseeing, providing sound biblical teaching, and offering enjoyable events that are relevant and engaging to children.
• Work to establish a relationship with children and families in our community who do not have a church home.
• Communicate ministry plans clearly to families and volunteers.
• Manage and follow the annual budget.
• Carry out any other responsibilities assigned by the Senior Pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Spiritually: Must have a strong prayer and devotional life. Must possess a calling by God to ministry with a passion to work with children and families.
• Ethically: Must strive to live with integrity to God's Word and as a godly example before the entire congregation.
• Organizationally: Must have a cooperative spirit that ensures a collegial relationship with all church staff and leadership. Work to maintain unity within the church. Must possess strong administrative skills to lead ministry.
• Education: Must have an undergraduate degree. The Associate Pastor of Children and Family Ministries is expected to improve personal and professional skills through continued training under the supervision of the Senior Pastor.
