Position: Ministries Pastor

Hours: Full Time (40 hrs/week)

Reports To: Executive Pastor


OVERVIEW

The Ministries Pastor inspires, motivates, and guides leaders and managers at HOPE. This role requires a firm grasp of HOPE's beliefs, values, and strategies and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision, and values. The Ministries Pastor will offer pastoral leadership to the ministry staff and ensure the ministry activities responsibly and effectively align with the systems, practices, and policies of the church and the EPC. The Ministries Pastor will live out HOPE values demonstrably and consistently, serving as an example to the staff, volunteers, and community.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serving on the Executive Leadership Team

o Providing leadership regarding the direction of HOPE

o Initiating, shaping, and implementing HOPE's v30 goals

o Collaborating with the ELT in a spirit of unity o Caring for the people of HOPE, our community and ministry partners

o Reporting weekly to ELT, monthly to elders, and quarterly to the congregation, including attendance, giving, small group participation, baptisms, volunteer engagement, community transformation, etc.

  • Serving as a leading force behind HOPE’s v30 goal of 1,500 baptisms

o Initiating, implementing, and refining ministry strategies to accomplish this goal

  • Managing the Leads of HOPE church ministry teams

o Family Ministries

▪ Overseeing Family Ministries Pastor in the creation and delivery of programming to families to include Hope Kids, Students, College Ministry, Young Adults, and Special Needs ministries

▪ Overseeing and providing feedback on performance metrics, budgets, calendars, and other major ministry endeavors

o Deacons

▪ Leading a team of ordained deacons to provide congregational care, counseling, and volunteer leadership on Sunday mornings

▪ Supporting the spiritual development and support of the deacon team through training, leading regular meetings and retreats, coordinating their ministry work, and engaging in the process of nominating new deacons annually

o Care Team

▪ Overseeing the Care Team of staff and volunteers who provide intake and evaluation of congregational requests for financial support, counseling, and pastoral care during seasons of personal crisis

▪ Ensuring best practices are followed in the care provided to HOPE staff and community

▪ Providing strategy and vision for the team

o Worship Arts Team

▪ Managing the Worship Lead and Production Lead, empowering them to lead the teams that provide weekly worship experiences, as well as other special services and ministry events at HOPE (for example, memorial services or worship and baptism experiences)

▪ Overseeing and providing feedback on performance metrics, budgets, calendars, and other major ministry endeavors

▪ Partnering with the senior pastor, worship team, and communications team to ensure all worship services match HOPE’s mission, vision, values, and culture

▪ Displaying excellent communication skills, the ability to make sound decisions, high-level networking, and relational strengths that enhance each worship experience

o Discipleship

▪ Leading the discipleship teams to administrate small groups, provide spiritual growth for the congregation, and engage and train volunteers for ministry opportunities

▪ Overseeing and providing feedback on performance metrics, budgets, calendars, and other major ministry endeavors

▪ Helping grow a culture of discipleship through small groups, classes & serving

  • Fulfilling other pastoral/administrative duties (sermons, Sunday hosting, weddings, funerals, baptisms, child baptisms or dedications, counseling, etc.) or other tasks as directed by the Executive Pastor

  • Mature grasp of the Bible and ability to teach and lead biblically
  • Alignment with and agreement with the EPC Essentials of our Faith
  • Alignment with the EPC denomination and HOPE’s participation in it
  • Preach and teach occasionally to advance the messaging of the church
  • Minimum 5-7 years of ministry experience in relevant settings
  • A Master's degree in a related field completed or in progress, seminary degree preferred
  • EPC ordination preferable


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary work primarily involves sitting, moving about to accomplish tasks, communicating with others to exchange information; assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned


EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • Monday - Thursday 9 am-5 pm
  • Sunday 7 am-1 pm
  • Occasional weeknights, Fridays, and Saturdays
