This Associate Pastor opening is a part-time position at South Freeport Congregational Church (SFCC), UCC

and is an ordainable call in the United Church of Christ.

·      Description

o  The Associate Pastor will serve as part of the pastoral team, collaborating with, and reporting to, the Senior Pastor

o  Our hope is for an applicant ordained in the UCC, or a Member in Discernment (MID) to ministry and ordination in the UCC, or other Christian-based mainline denomination

o  We will support a candidate for MID in the UCC

·      Qualifications and Skills

o  Credentials, or on a path towards ordination in UCC, or other mainline denomination

o  Love and knowledge of Scripture

o  Remaining open to Holy Spirit’s guidance

o  Dedication to God’s justice

o  Natural, or developing, leadership qualities

o  Ability to relate, with warmth and respect, to all ages, ethnicities, identities, and backgrounds

o  Collaborate, as well as able to work independently

o  Maintain confidentiality

o  Communicate clearly and timely

o  Address issues of concern to the Senior Pastor

 

·      Job Summary/Duties and Responsibilities

o  Responsible for coordinating/leading/facilitating one to two worship services per month

o  Contribute as a liturgist for other Sundays, as available

o  Play an active role in SFCC faith community, with active involvement in church events and committees, and as a Pastoral/Staff liaison

o  Share in responding to Pastoral Care needs, including parishioner emergencies, visits, funerals, memorials, weddings, etc.

o  Estimated 10 to 12 hours per week, on average

o  Salary negotiable, while working within UCC recommended guidelines

o  Potential support for a candidate for MID in the UCC

·      Work Environment and Location: onsite at South Freeport Congregational Church, online, and in the community
