Job Description

Full-time, exempt. Reports to the Pastor of Disciple-Making.

The Pastor of Care is responsible for providing direction and oversight to the ministries and personnel of Care Ministries, which include the primary areas of Support Groups, Marriage Ministries, and Pastoral Care Ministries. 

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership for Re|Generation Ministry by recruiting a leadership team, caring for and leading the volunteers, and serving as the regular teacher for the weekly gatherings.
2. Provide oversight and direction lay leaders, which includes such areas as Benevolence, Financial ministries, Hospital Visitation, and various practical caring ministries.
3. Provide direction and support with the Family Disciple-Making Pastor for the Marriage Ministry Council. 
4. Oversee ministry for Crisis Marriages, including such actions as identifying and reporting status, counseling, small group studies, providing accountability, and supporting the Elders in church discipline by coordinating or directing Shepherding Panels as needed.
5. Provide direction and oversight to the Ministry Assistant of Care Ministries who provides general administrative support to the Care Ministries team, and specific support for such ministries as Benevolence, Births/ Deaths/ Hospitalizations records, Support Group support, New Member support, Martha Ministry, Pastoral Counseling appointment scheduling, and other such support.
6. Provide Pastoral Counseling through meeting – phone – email and also maintaining a network of Christian counselors for referral.
7. Provide general pastoral duties such as weddings, funerals, hospital visitation, and other such routine activities of the pastoral staff.
8. Provide general administrative oversight such as preparing and monitoring budgets, providing routine reporting questions, developing master plan goals, providing input for annual reports, and evaluating performance of the Care Ministries team.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Raleigh is a booming city that’s growing exponentially every day. In 2023, it was ranked the third fastest-growing city in the US. Education, career, family, and more are bringing people to our city, and we want them to know the truth of who God is. We have three services every Sunday morning where anyone and everyone is welcome to come and experience meaningful worship, teaching, and connection. And for those who work on the weekends, we offer a Monday Night service as well.

Helping people gain truths for living doesn’t stop at adults, but extends to everyone including kids and students. We feel passionate about helping toddlers to seniors know what the Bible has to say about God, life, and eternity. From age-specific programming during worship services, evening enrichment programs, parenting seminars, and more we aim to partner with parents, teaching kids and students, and participate together in the mission of bringing up the next generation to know the gospel and love Jesus.

At Providence, we believe our life is best experienced in community. That means we champion doing life together for the good of our own growth, the good of our church, and to see the whole kingdom of God thrive. We desire for those who walk through our doors to be a part of meaningful communities we call Life Groups. These groups exist to care for one another, pray for one another, meet regularly together, study the Bible together, serve together, and go on mission together. Life Groups are our main avenue here at Providence for doing life together.
