Director of Children's Ministry

Community Church of Portage Lakes is located in the heart of Portage Lakes, surrounded by beautiful parks and lakes. It is also just 10 minutes from the city of Akron, known for its college atmosphere and growing artistic scene. We are excited about where God is taking our children’s ministry. In the last two years we have doubled in size. Additionally, because of our growth, we have committed to a complete remodel of the Children’s space. This includes creating a large group area for kids, updating our gym, and kids classrooms. The Children’s Director will be able to give input to this remodel project. This remodel is slated to be completed by Fall of 2022. Finally, we have natural opportunities for outreach through a vibrant preschool of 120 kids within the church, as well as, Coventry Elementary school which has 500 kids within walking distance of the church. We are looking for a spiritual leader who is ready to bring fun, vision, organization, and creativity to our children’s ministry and take it to the next level. Job Functions: 

• Cast and implement vision for children’s ministry.
• Create and maintain an excellent and safe facility for children.
• Recruit, train, and coordinate qualified and screened volunteers.
• Schedule and coordinate Sunday morning classes and activities.
• Schedule and coordinate Wednesday evening classes and activities.
• Manage all Children’s Ministry related social media accounts.  
• Create and develop initiatives that connect and reach both the church preschool and nearby elementary school. 
• Plan and coordinate special events such as trunk or treat and Spring carnival.  
• Cast, implement, and manage vision for VBS or other outreach initiatives. 
• Care, support, and disciple children and families within the ministry. 
• Teach and model evangelism and outreach to children who do not attend. Community Church of Portage Lakes.
