Westside Overview

Westside is a 1000-member church located in the westside of Atlanta and founded in 2007. Our purpose is to embody and preview the Kingdom of God from Buckhead to Bankhead.  Our Core Values are:

Description

The Director of Communications provides strategic oversight for all internal and external communications at Atlanta Westside Presbyterian Church. This role ensures that every word, image, and medium communicates the church’s mission clearly and beautifully. The Director leads a small team of staff and volunteers to plan, design, and execute communication strategies across print, web, social media, and live environments—integrating storytelling, marketing, and design to inspire engagement and deepen connection.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Oversight

• Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy that supports Westside’s mission, values, and ministry goals.
• Serve as the primary steward of the church’s visual identity, brand, and tone.
• Establish annual and seasonal communications calendars in partnership with ministry leaders.
• Collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Senior Pastor, and Leadership Team to ensure clarity and consistency across all channels.

Content and Storytelling

• Lead and oversee content creation for print, digital, and video platforms—including weekly newsletters, website content, social media, and special campaigns.
• Supervise writers, designers, and photographers to produce compelling materials that communicate stories of God’s redemptive work.
• Manage publication and distribution of major church initiatives (e.g., “Deeper,” retreats, missions, seasonal campaigns).
• Maintain editorial standards that reflect theological integrity, aesthetic excellence, and cultural sensitivity.

Team Leadership

• Supervise and develop communications staff and volunteers, fostering creativity, accountability, and spiritual health.
• Partner with the Director of Worship to ensure consistency between live gatherings and digital communications.
• Oversee vendor relationships for printing, design, photography, and video production.
• Monitor communications analytics and adapt strategies for greater engagement and reach.

Administrative and Operational

• Develop and manage annual communications budgets in coordination with the Executive Director.
• Oversee web infrastructure, digital security, and communications platforms.
• Evaluate and improve internal communications processes and tools across ministries.

Qualifications

• Strong alignment with Atlanta Westside’s mission and values.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in communications, marketing, or brand strategy.
• Proven ability to lead, manage projects, and oversee creative production pipelines.
• Excellent writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
• Familiarity with web design and management, creative design, print, and major digital communication platforms.
