Worship Director

High Point Church

Job Description

About Us

We are a non-denominational, evangelical church of about 1,000 people in Madison, Wisconsin. Our heart is to build a prevailing church that makes substantive disciples of Jesus. Our worship gatherings are central to that mission-they’re moments where we turn our full attention to God together in authentic, Spirit-led worship.

About the Role

We’re looking for a creative, spiritually grounded Worship Director to help our congregation connect with God and each other through the various expressions of our service’s liturgy, with a particular emphasis on musical worship. This role has a duality to it, with care and consideration for the congregation as a whole, as well as a shepherding focus on the volunteers in the ministry. This is a leadership role with significant opportunity for growth and development—ideal for someone who is passionate about helping people worship, eager to grow as a leader, and committed to training volunteers and building healthy teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Worship regularly on Sundays and for special services in a way that prepares the congregant’s heart to experience the glory of God, and in a style representative of the High Point congregation.

• Shepherd volunteer musicians, vocalists, and tech team members—care for their spiritual well being utilizing the discipleship pathways that already exist in High Point Church in addition to personally mentoring and discipling volunteers when applicable.

• Develop volunteers’ skills, pursuing a culture that is both celebratory and feedback-rich, full of enjoyment, humility, and a commitment to growth.

• Shape the worship experience in partnership with the teaching and production teams, contributing creatively to service planning and flow.

• Oversee worship ministry logistics (scheduling, rehearsals, song selection, communication, etc.) with organization and care.

• Cultivate creativity by encouraging songwriting, new artistic expressions, and fresh ways of engaging the congregation in worship.

• Model spiritual maturity—being emotionally grounded, relationally healthy, and rooted in God’s Word.

What we’re looking for

• A vibrant follower of Jesus with a mature and growing faith.

• A skilled musician and worship leader who can lead vocally and instrumentally (guitar or piano preferred).

• Emotionally resilient and humble, with a teachable attitude, and the ability to receive feedback and criticism maturely.

• Relational and team-oriented, able to listen to and draw out the best in others.

• Creative and forward-thinking, excited about shaping the future of worship in our church.

• Experience leading worship in a church or ministry-setting is preferred, but character and calling matter most.

Why this role matters

This is more than a music position—it’s a calling to help people give God what he deserves: their worship. You’ll be stepping into a church with a strong foundation, supportive leadership, and a desire to see our worship ministry flourish in both depth and creativity.
