Principal Function:
1. Build a long-term youth ministry to equip students in becoming committed disciples of Jesus Christ
2. Under the direction of the senior pastor, and in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth by the church, the Student Minister will provide oversight to the overall student ministry of the church
Regular Duties:
1. Must report directly to the Senior Pastor and/or Associate Pastor on a weekly basis
2. Must be able to train and lead volunteers with a team approach to ministry
3. Prepare messages and programs for students for both the Sunday and Wednesday night meetings
4. Is responsible for the Sunday School hour
5. Meet regularly (at least monthly) with volunteers for training/planning
6. Communicate weekly with parents about happenings in student ministry
7. Attend weekly staff meeting
8. Attend weekly visitation on Monday nights (unless prior obligations to students)
9. Organize and plan youth outings, mission opportunities, camps, retreat, etc.
10. Organize a plan of discipleship, including church participation and attendance, for students who are actively seeking the Lord and growing in their faith
11. Participate in church visitation, outreach, and Sunday morning worship services
12. Must become a member of and committed to the Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church’s doctrine, vision, values, and beliefs
13. Assist the Pastor in his ministerial duties and other duties as assigned
Occasional Duties:
1. Speak or pray at community events, schools, other youth events
2. Clean up youth room; keep it nice
3. Work with youth praise team
4. Lead the youth to be mission minded with mission opportunities
Special Knowledge/Skills:
1. Must possess strong communication skills
2. Must have a relational style of leadership and ministry
3. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
4. Possess or be in pursuit of a Master of Divinity from a theological seminary
5. Ministry experience
Personal Qualifications:
1. Must demonstrate a love for, and maturing relationship with, Jesus Christ as well as an obvious passion for students and a desire to equip them in becoming committed disciples
2. Must have a desire to partner with/minister to parents of students, helping them to raise up passionate followers of Christ in their homes
