Youth Minister

This position works in partnership with the Senior Pastor and Volunteers to direct VBC’s Youth Ministry (7th-12 grade). This position will minister to youth and their families and be a spiritually mature, biblical leader who brings encouragement and vision for the youth ministry and the church as a whole. Regular participation in Staff and occasional attendance at committee meetings may be necessary as well as other duties as assigned.

HOURS/SALARY

The Youth Leader is a part-time contract position which may expand to full time in the future. The position is estimated at 15-20 hours per week with a salary range of $18-$20 per hour.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the Youth Ministry and coordinates the training of others to do likewise:

• Engaging and passionate teacher who brings practical life application to the Scriptures and relates well with youth.

• Create and implement an overall youth vision and strategy for the church.

• Coordinate the weekly youth gatherings.

• Provide opportunities for youth to be directly involved in missions and ministry.

• Encourage youth to participate in personal worship and praise.

• Plan, implement and evaluate the annual youth group calendar.

• Share the gospel with youth/students and parents on an ongoing basis.

• Work closely with other teams in planning and preparing for church services/events.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

A Youth Ministry Leader is a mature, devout follower of Jesus Christ, is faithful in the pursuit of God including prayer, study and application of the Word, and is committed to our purpose as believers. This individual is also a gifted teacher, and has a passion for leading youth in their relationship with God. Other qualifications are as follows:

• Quality verbal and written communication skills, with computer proficiency.

• Ability and willingness to serve Christ and the Church, faithfully and lovingly.

• Bachelor’s Degree or working toward a ministry focused major preferred.

• Prior Youth Ministry experience is preferred.
