Residential Care Mentor Job Summary:
Shelterwood Academy is a Christ-centered therapeutic boarding school for at-risk teenagers. Our mission is to bring healing and hope to teens, and restoration to families. Residential care mentors are able to make an impact in the lives of our teens through building relationships, developing trust, and modeling good character. Our teens come from all parts of the country, as do our residential care mentors. A Typical Day:
7am-3pm -> help teens develop and maintain structure through wake up calls, completing chores, eating breakfast, going to school, and attending therapy groups. While teens are in school, residential care mentors complete various administrative tasks throughout the residence.
2pm-10pm -> engage with teens in various planned activities. Activities vary daily and are planned by residential care mentors and the rest of the team. Examples of activities may include bowling, watching a movie, painting, journaling, bible studies, going to the gym, playing card games, sledding, going for a hike, visiting a museum, etc.
Work Schedule:
All residential care mentors are scheduled to work 40-45 hours per week: 5 shifts per week; 1 shift per day; approximately 8 hours per shift with any overtime as needed. Residential care mentors work a combination of morning shifts and evening shifts.
