About Community Bible Church

The Community Bible Church has been meeting on M-28 across from the Strong’s Coburn Cemetery since 1964. The Church is located near several communities, Strongs, Eckerman, Hulbert, Raco, Trout Lake, McNearny Lake, Johnsons Lake, Piatt Lake and Paradise.  Though these communities are smaller, when you add the number of people who live in them, there are great possibilities for future growth. The church is located 40 miles west of Sault Ste. Marie, and 26 miles east of Newberry on M-28.  The winter attendance numbers are 35-50 and summer is 150+.

The church body desires a Pastor who 1) Loves Jesus, 2) Loves people, 3) Loves being in a very rural environment, 4) Has a servant’s heart, 5) Is outgoing (not an introvert), 6) Is a self-starter, 7). He and his family would also need to enjoy the winter season, as it is very long in the Upper Peninsula, and 8) A solid Bible education is also required, whether by a Bible institute, college or seminary.

Community Bible Church is affiliated with the Independent Fundamental Churches International. We are in existence as a result of the church planting arm of the IFCA, the Independent Bible Mission. We graduated from IBM in 1997. We have congregational government and believe in the plurality of Elders.

Three of the last seven pastors ministered here for 19 years, 17 years, and 19 years. Rural churches need long pastorates to impact communities. It is the church’s desire to have a pastor who plans on staying here for a long time.

The church has two parsonages, a sanctuary that has seated as many as 160, a large Ministry Center comprising a full High School regulation basketball court, commercial kitchen, large bathrooms and a 70’ x 30’ youth room. In the summer, the services are held in the Ministry Center because of the amount of people who attend.   The Church has no debt, the buildings are in great shape, and it also has finances to support a Pastor when called.

The Constitution, Bylaws, History, etc. will be sent to those who feel the Holy Spirit speaking to them about this opening.    Contact [email protected],,  or 906-291-0626 [email protected].
