Job Description

Parkside Church, in the Southwest Metro area of the Twin Cities, is in search of an Associate Pastor. Recent growth and renovated facilities lead us to see who might join our team to help fulfill God’s mission at Parkside. This new position will partner with the Lead Pastor in leading and driving the overall mission and vision of Parkside Church. The person in this position will oversee, equip, coordinate, and multiply the efforts of a combination of staff, interns, ministry team leaders, and volunteers who will conduct the various ministries.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Following a Life Plan focused on self-leadership with regular accountability with the Lead Pastor
  • Driving the mission/vision in a hybrid role with the Lead Pastor, with some executive leadership responsibilities, to advance Parkside’s mission and vision
  • Preaching, teaching, pastoral care & counsel, shepherding, etc. where appropriate in partnership with the Lead Pastor
  • Developing and multiplying small groups/life groups ministries
  • Leading, developing, and strategizing with ministry team leadership and support
  • Coordinating, leading, and overseeing support staff & team leaders for all aspects of Sunday morning activities
  • Establishing deep networks and relationships in the church and community
  • Recruiting, equipping, and engaging volunteers and developing strong leaders
  • Mentoring and developing all staff and volunteers
  • Overseeing finance and budget reporting, accountability, and stewardship
  • Overseeing all policy, procedure, legal, human resources, etc.
  • Engaging in the life and overall ministry of Parkside

  • An authentic and vital relationship with Jesus as Lord and Savior with observable & increasingly demonstrated fruits of the Spirit in this person’s life.
  • Personal experience of the work of the Holy Spirit in a yielded lifestyle, humble teachable spirit, servant’s heart, and healthy personal and/or family life.
  • Establish a rapport with all ages to express a genuine & transformational love for them.
  • Disciple-making heart and life, obediently and lovingly multiplying disciples who make disciples.
  • Sensitive to the needs and pressures of individuals and families in crisis, diverse cultures, and the special needs of foster or adoptive care families.
  • Embraces and leads an environment in a constant state of growth, change, and innovation.
  • Commitment to serve as a collaborative team player with staff, volunteers, & ministries.
  • Possess judgment to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion.
  • Demonstrates evidence of a calling and passion for ministry to and spiritual formation of people
  • Alignment with Parkside mission to love God, love people, and make disciples who make disciples.
  • Alignment with Parkside vision as it relates to emerging Disciple Making Movement (DMM) initiatives and a commitment to church-wide integration with all relevant ministry activity.

  • Possessing proven exegetical and communication skills
  • Interpersonal and organizational leadership skills are necessary to recruit and equip staff and volunteers; Equipping the body to do the work of the ministry, not doing it themselves.
  • A leadership philosophy of equipping and disciple-making that includes a commitment to a team approach to ministry while delegating responsibility to team leaders and members.
  • Education that includes a ministry-related undergraduate degree with a minimum of 30 hours of Bible & Theology (required) and a ministry-related postgraduate degree is desired or may be worked towards.  
  • Experience that includes 3-5 years as a full-time vocational pastor, either as an associate or lead pastor, is preferred.
  • Accredited or willing to become accredited with, and licensed with, the North Central District of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.
