Associate Pastor

Job Summary:

Crossway Church is a contemporary Southern Baptist Church seeking a dynamic and

passionate Associate Pastor who demonstrates strong leadership and communication

skills, a heart for ministry, and a desire to work collaboratively within a healthy, Spirit-led team.

The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, relationally gifted, spiritually mature, and

fully aligned with the church’s mission, values, and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ministry Leadership Oversight

• The Associate Pastor plays a supportive and multi-faceted role within the church, focused on

complementing the Senior Pastor’s efforts while addressing the spiritual and organizational

needs of the congregation.

• Provides visionary, energetic leadership that mobilizes people toward spiritual growth and

active service.

*Oversee church budget, staff coordination, and necessary administration tasks

*Develop and implement church growth strategies to include outreach/evangelism efforts, new

member assimilation, church discipleship, and strategic planning sessions with ministry staff.

*Provide oversight to various church ministries, i.e., Men’s, Women’s, Senior Adults, etc.

2. Preaching Teaching

• Preach and teach during worship services and Bible study lessons as needed bringing

biblically grounded, culturally relevant, and Spirit-filled messages.

*Lead and facilitate small group ministry within the church teaching and equipping small

group leaders.

3. Communication Connection

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and public communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Cultivate strong relationships with church members, leaders, volunteers, and the broader

community.

• Serve as a bridge-builder across generations and ministry teams.

4. Team Collaboration Chemistry

• Exhibit strong team chemistry with pastoral staff, elders, and volunteers.

• Be coachable, collaborative, and encouraging — a unifier with a servant-leader mindset.

• Assist in leadership development by mentoring volunteers and emerging leaders and engage

in personal and professional developments opportunities to grow leadership and ministry skills

5. Pastoral Care

• Provide pastoral care to members through counseling, visitation, and life-event ministry (e.g.,

weddings, funerals, baptisms).

• Work with the Senior Pastor to ensure members and families are cared for holistically.

Qualifications:

• A growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear call to pastoral ministry.

• Demonstrated leadership and preaching/teaching experience (preferably 3+ years in a ministry

context).

• Bachelor’s degree required but a Master’s Degree in Divinity or Theology preferred.

• Excellent communicator with the ability to connect across diverse age groups and

backgrounds.

• Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
