Youth Ministry Resident

Cross Community Church

Job Description

Youth Ministry Resident (1-Year Position)

Cross Community Church – Houston, TX (Northeast / Eastex Area)

Cross Community Church is a 4-year-old, gospel-centered church plant in northeast Houston with a huge heart for our city and a vision to be a multi-generational, New Testament expression of the local church for the next generation. We gather in a renovated space God has redeemed after Hurricane Harvey, and we’re passionate about reaching families and students in our diverse, hardworking community – The Eastex.

We’re prayerfully seeking a Youth Ministry Resident—a part-time, one-year role designed for an emerging leader (typically 21–30) who feels called to reach teenagers with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is a hands-on residency where you’ll get to build, lead, and grow while receiving weekly mentoring from our Lead Pastor, Education Ministry Director and ministry team.

As our Youth Ministry Resident, you will:

  • Partner directly with the Lead Pastor & Education Ministry Director to launch and lead a brand-new middle school & high school ministry (Sunday gatherings, potential mid-week small groups, events, retreats, outreach, etc.)
  • Build authentic relationships with students and families in northeast Houston, discipling teens and helping them follow Jesus
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd adult volunteers to multiply the ministry
  • Plan and lead theologically rich, relationally driven, fun programming that reflects the culture of our community
  • Gain experience in teaching, pastoral care, parent partnership, vision-casting, and administration
  • Receive intentional leadership development, theological training, and personalized mentorship throughout the year

This is an ideal “gap year” or post-college launching pad for someone testing a call to vocational ministry before seminary or a permanent staff role.

Duration: 12 months (flexible start date). Potential for part-time or full-time employment at the conclusion of the residency.

Compensation: Stipend based on 15-20 hours per week.

Schedule: Part-time 15- 20 hours primarily on Sunday, Wednesday and special events.

If you love Jesus, love teenagers, and are excited to help plant a youth ministry from the ground up in a growing church that’s all about making disciples and sending them out on mission—we want to meet you.
