BACKGROUND:

The Orchard Church is a Southern Baptist Church in Kingsley, Michigan. The Village of Kingsley (population 1,430) is located in Grand Traverse County (population 95,860). This church was planted in 2005 in Traverse City. We followed God’s call to Kingsley in 2017.

We currently have 62 members and 107 regular attenders. This congregation meets for one service on Sunday mornings. During the service we offer nursery/preschool care and children’s church for Pre-K through Grade 6.

Our mission is to grow healthy believers through the study of the Word, prayer, fellowship, and service. We have an outreach focus that includes local, national, and international missions. Our staff includes a full-time administrative assistant, a full-time worship/youth group leader, and a part-time financial secretary. The Orchard Church is served by a four-member elder team, a four-member trustee team, and a six-member deacon team. Our other ministries are led by dedicated volunteers.

Our search for a new pastor was initiated when our current pastor obeyed God’s call to accept a lead pastor position for a church in another state.

The Orchard Church is committed to sharing the Word with our communities, and to emphasizing personal and spiritual growth. Though we are small, we are mighty in the Lord, through our programs that share the gospel, and serve those around us in our daily lives, our community, and around the world.

We seek a pastor who exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God as his highest treasure, a teachable spirit, and a healthy prayer and family life as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

He is passionate about preaching God’s word, bringing the lost to Christ, and growing healthy believers. He is committed to discipleship and outreach. He also has proven abilities in administration and staff/volunteer leadership and development.

Qualifications:

· Possesses a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (master’s preferred)

· Experience in pastoral ministry

· Basic administrative skills

Desired characteristics/skills:

· Demonstrates a humble and teachable spirit

· Personal life characterized by prayer and preparation for ministry

· Has the ability, patience and maturity to wisely shepherd a church containing diverse backgrounds, convictions, and maturity levels

· Understands his spiritual gifts, strengths, and weaknesses

· Is a man who actively seeks the Lord in prayer for his messages with a teaching style that is gospel-centered and is expository

· Is passionate about discipleship and growing healthy believers

· Has ability to create, communicate, and execute a long-term vision for the church’s ministry in collaboration with the Elders, Deacons and Trustees

· Has a heart for pastoral ministry, loves people, and has a passion for evangelism and outreach to both our community and to the world

· Is an effective preacher/teacher with a strong biblical and theological background who agrees with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

· Demonstrates that spiritual leadership is built upon relationships, and that it requires availability, commitment, and trust

Responsibilities:

Senior Pastor is responsible to preach and teach, including but not limited to preaching Sunday mornings. He will also provide spiritual leadership and pastoral care to the congregation, and to the community, as a member of the Elder team. He will also provide administrative leadership as part of the Trustee team, and outreach leadership alongside the Missions Team.
