Shannon Park Baptist Church is seeking a bi-vocational pastor. A full time position is desirable as finances allow. Salary is expected to be $60,000. The primary role of this position is to be the shepherd of our congregation, preach God’s word, minister to spiritual needs, and provide biblical leadership. The ideal candidate will be an outgoing individual who works well with leadership and ministry teams, reaches out and engages both members and visitors and is involved in the community for furthering of the Gospel. Primarily expository preaching is preferred.
Shannon Park Baptist Church currently averages 45-65 people on a Sunday morning with regular visitors. The church body consists of individuals and families of all ages who love the Lord and love each other. The church is committed to the purposes of Evangelism, Discipleship, Worship, Ministry and Fellowship and we are seeking a pastor to join us in fulfilling this purpose.
Shannon Park Baptist Church is located in Fairbanks, Alaska: a small town of ~40,000 people in the interior of Alaska. The wider Fairbanks area is ~80,000 people and includes an army base, air force base and the town of North Pole. This is the second largest city in Alaska and is geographically isolated, being 300 miles from the nearest large city. Fairbanks has an international airport and is on the highway system. The church is in a very visible location along a major roadway and near a large shopping area. Ft. Wainwright Army base has a gate near the church, and we have historically had several military individuals/families in our congregation. Alaska is a wonderful and very unique location. However, the pastor and spouse need to also carefully consider the challenges of living in Fairbanks, Alaska, with long cold dark winters, and should have the intent of a long term commitment.
