Job Description

Purpose: Model Jesus, Share the Gospel and Shape Students into Mature Followers of Jesus Christ who are doing His work in His way. 


CONTACT (ENTER THEIR WORLD) Just as Jesus took on flesh and entered our world to be with us, you will make personal contact with Jr and Sr High students a hallmark of our youth ministries: going to their sporting events, dramas, performances; meet them for lunch, share meals with them (hang out where they are hanging out). Take volunteer leaders along with you and mentor them to multiply incarnational ministry. Make sure every student has a volunteer checking in on him/her. Cultivate relationships with pre-teens in our Children’s Ministry and Sonshine.


EXPANDING THEIR HORIZON Expose students to serving the poor, the needy and the lost in our community (service projects) and in cross cultural contexts (mission trips); introduce them to leadership opportunities within youth ministry, and the larger church context (cast the vision that they are crucial to Christ’s Body and the work He has for us). Take students 


DISCIPLING JR. AND SR. HIGH STUDENTS We are here on earth to follow Jesus and to help others follow Him. Everything you do will be about helping students to go deeper with God, grow closer to each other, and reach out further into the world with the Gospel. Introduce teens to Jesus at weekly youth night gatherings (encourage core to bring friends as outreach). Form discipling/shepherding groups for guys and gals. Lead Sunday Morning Youth LifeGroup. Lead Jr. High Confirmation (deep dive on Bible and what it means to follow Jesus).


MENTORING FOR MULTIPLICATION Jesus discipled disciple-makers and we believe that we serve the Kingdom best when we mentor people to join us in leadership. Recruiting and discipling leadership teams for both Jr & Sr High is key. Director will recruit and mentor intern(s) and leaders through weekly and monthly huddles to pray, give feedback and assignments. Meet monthly with Youth chair and Board, and twice yearly with youth leaders for longterm planning.

Desired Qualities: People-person; organized, creative and able to take initiative; passion for Christ and helping teens discover their identity, their freedom, gifting and calling in Christ; able to teach and teachable; good listener; a team player; willing to be flexible to meet ministry needs and challenges; able to delegate and encourage; able to recruit adult volunteers and motivate, equip and lead leaders, modeling relational ministry for them
