Working hours: 9 am – 12 pm Sundays on site, plus one hour of preparation time per week which may be worked remotely

Job description: The Sunday Morning Teacher will provide support in Children’s Ministry on Sunday, being present and engaged in all elementary-age activities. S/he will follow procedure for check-in/check-out, assist with drop-off time, breakfast, and gathering, and use provided curriculum to prepare for and independently teach either the K-2nd grade or 3rd-5th grade class from 9:30-10:15 am, with in-room support from staff or volunteers. S/he will then function as support and supervision for Children’s Church, which is taught by other staff and takes place between the Children’s Lesson and the Lord’s Supper during the 10:30 am service. The Teacher may be responsible for sitting in worship with children whose parents are in the choir, and will ordinarily be expected to be present until the end of the worship service. The Teacher may occasionally be asked float to Infant/PreK childcare. Other opportunities for afternoon and midweek hourly childcare work will be offered, but are not a requirement of the job.
Qualifications: The candidate must be a person of thoughtful and growing Christian faith capable of wholehearted support of our Presbyterian education program. A mature and gentle presence with children, respect for the congregation, and kindness to all is necessary. Experience working with children is required. Theological education at any level is a plus. All employees must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and comply with the church’s Child Protection Policy. Infant/Pediatric and Adult First Aid/CPR training will be provided if a new hire is not currently certified, and must be completed before the first day of work.
Hourly pay: $33
