Youth and Family Minister 

Trinity Lutheran Church in Pleasanton, CA, seeks a passionate and creative individual to lead our youth and young family program. The Youth and Family Minister will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing activities and events to help young families and youth grow in their faith, serve their community and have fun together. 

The youth program is going through a restart after COVID, and this person will need to rebuild the program. Trinity is focused on reinvigorating this program. The entire church will support and assist the Youth and Family Minister to ensure that this program succeeds. The importance of this program is called out through Trinity’s values:

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will also have: 

·      A strong commitment to the Lutheran faith and the mission and vision of Trinity Lutheran Church

·      Experience working with youth in a church setting or a similar environment 

·      Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

·      Effective use of social media to build faithful relationships

·      Ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers and parents

·      Creativity, flexibility and enthusiasm for young family and youth ministry development

·      Knowledge of the resources and opportunities available for youth ministry in the ELCA 

The main duties of the Minister will include: 

·       Creating an environment for young families that is dynamic and meets their needs

·       Developing and leading weekly youth group meetings for middle school and high school students

·       Coordinating and facilitating youth participation in worship, service projects, retreats, camps and other events 

·       Building relationships with youth, parents, staff and the congregation 

·       Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers for youth ministry 

·       Managing the budget and resources for youth ministry 

·       Communicating regularly with youth, parents, staff and the congregation about youth ministry activities and opportunities 

This is a halftime hourly non-exempt position (20 hours per week). The wage for this position will be $40,000 to $50,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. The young family and youth program leader will report to the pastor and work closely with the church council. 

Qualifications 

The successful candidate will have: 

·      Outgoing personality and ability to make connections with youth and young parents

·      Experience leading a young family and youth program

·      Proficient in social media uses of communication

·      Four-year degree or equivalent experience

·      Position will require work to be performed during normal business hours as well as after hours and weekends

·      Candidate will be required to complete and pass a Background Check.
