Worship and Music Pastor – Part-Time

Reports to: Senior Pastor

The Worship Pastor will be responsible to the church for providing leadership and oversight of the Worship and Music Ministry of Berea Baptist Church and leading our community of believers into heartfelt worship. He will work closely with the Senior Pastor in planning, implementing, and constructive evaluation of a comprehensive Worship Ministry (music, lyrics, videos, etc.) using a blend of hymns and contemporary worship music as led by the Holy Spirit.

In addition to ministry of music, this pastor will provide spiritual leadership and work closely with the staff and congregation to accomplish the goals and objectives of the church while glorifying God and making disciples.

Responsibilities

· Lead the church’s musical worship in partnership with the church’s worship team, with special emphasis on strengthening congregational singing.

· Meet weekly with the pastor to discuss matters relating to corporate worship (preaching, service planning, service leadership, etc.)

· Selecting weekly and special music (Special music may include Easter, Christmas, etc.)

· Managing the Worship Team and organize weekly Sunday scheduling and practice times

· Introducing new music to the Worship Team and Congregation

· Managing yearly music budget

· Meet regularly with the pastor for personal discipleship

· As opportunities allow, preach in corporate worship

· Work with the pastor to coordinate and lead church-wide ministries

· Assist in general pastoral care (visitation of shut-ins, hospital visits, etc.)

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in music or related field

· 1-5 years of experience in worship pastoral ministry or a related field

· Must be ordained or be a candidate for ordination

· A born-again believer who acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and has an ongoing personal relationship with Him

· Self-motivated, team player with leadership skills, a “can-do” attitude, and a teachable spirit to grow and work alongside others

· Gifted in both vocal and instrumental aspects of music

· Able to read music as well as direct congregational singing

· The ability and the desire to work creatively and flexibly

· A love for and enjoyment of people of all ages and backgrounds

· The ability to recruit, organize, and lead choirs, ensembles, and instrumentalists

· A yearning to reach the lost while actively engaging in the making of new disciples

Must affirm the Baptist Faith Message 2000
