WHO WE ARE
North Champions Baptist Church was a church plant of the Union Baptist Association in the
Klein/Champions area of Houston, Texas. We held our first worship service on September 11,
1988. Shortly after the arrival of Pastor Charles Culpepper in 1989, North Champions Baptist
Church became Fellowship of Champions Church. In the year 2003, after several years of being in
rented facilities or a mobile church, FOC purchased and developed the property where the current
buildings stand. Pastor Culpepper retired in 2013 and our current Pastor, Dustin Nelson came to
lead the church. In addition to our Sr. Pastor, we currently employ a team of 7 part-time leaders
including Youth Pastor, Children’s Director, Worship Leader, Youth Intern, Young Adult Intern,
Office Administrator, and an Office Assistant.
The church adopted new bylaws in 2017 instituting an elder-led model of church governance. The
current Elders are made up of five congregational elders and the Senior Pastor (Elder). We believe
the leadership of the church should reflect the model detailed in the Scriptures.
Currently, the church conducts one worship service on Sundays. The worship service is built
around expository preaching, congregational singing, and prayer. Concurrent to the service, there
is a program for children birth through 5th grade. We believe attendance in the Sunday morning
service to be a crucial part of the believer’s life. As of June of 2023, our average Sunday morning
attendance for the year is 148 people.
Disciple-making happens primarily through Sunday Worship Services for all ages, as well as in
home groups, youth group, and Bible Studies that meet at various times and locations. Significant
opportunities are before us to increase the effectiveness of efforts to see people come to faith in
Christ and grow in their love for and knowledge of Him.
FOC is located in one of the suburbs of Houston that has seen incredible growth in recent years.
Houston is one of the most populated cities in the world. It’s also one of the most diverse.
Hundreds of thousands of people live and work within a short distance of our church. Our church
has the amazing opportunity to reach thousands of people for Christ.
Our church is committed to the Great Commission of Jesus to make disciples of all nations.
Locally, we seek to make disciples through equipping our congregation to share the Gospel,
through a food pantry ministry to the needy, through hosting activities with a local boys’ home,
and through a ministry to an assisted living facility. Internationally, we are actively involved in a
partnership with an orphanage in Honduras where we share the gospel with orphans and those in
the surrounding communities through local church partnerships. This ministry is supported
through the sending of volunteers, prayer, and financial support. We have also recently started
financially supporting a church planting ministry in Canada. We are open to new partnerships.
Financially, the church is very healthy. By God’s grace, we have been able to maintain our campus
while remaining debt free. All of this is accomplished by the grace of God through the generosity
of our members.
The physical campus of our church encompasses just over 3 acres and is in a well-traveled area
easily accessible. Our facility consists of two buildings: the main church building and the youth
and children building named “The Shack.”
Fellowship of Champions Church is a family church where members are encouraged to forsake the
rugged individualism of our culture and embrace a life in genuine community. We believe that
healthy families will make a healthy church that reaches its community for Christ. We are excited
about the new opportunities for ministry and growth this Family Pastor position affords our
church and those that will be part of us in the future.
