Job Description
Purpose:
The Family Pastor will honor God by leading and managing the children’s, youth, and family ministries of First Baptist Church to grow spiritually and numerically. The ultimate goal is developing thriving Christian families in an anti-Christian culture.
Qualifications:
· A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, a growing personal relationship with Him, and a teachable spirit.
· A commitment to moral purity and a healthy family life.
· A commitment to the mission, vision, doctrine, and philosophy of the First Baptist Church.
· Is passionate about developing God-honoring successful families.
· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. A seminary degree in a related field is desirable.
· Has experienced success in leading and managing families to thrive in our culture.
Abilities:
· Skilled in organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
· Skilled in the use of technology (which includes Microsoft software, video projection and Power Point).
· A self-starter.
· A team player with a positive attitude.
· A passion for the evangelism and spiritual formation of the children, youth, adults and families in our community and church.
· One who can develop and implement a long-term vision for these ministries.
· Has relational skills and an enthusiastic presence for leading children, youth and adults to come to Christ and grow spiritually.
· An engaging teacher with a strong Biblical and theological background.
· A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting a vision for children, youth, adults and parents.
· Mentoring and developing leadership in the respective ministries.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
· Organizes and staff’s effective children’s, youth and adult programs which will fulfill our purposes of evangelism, worship, discipleship, ministry and fellowship.
· Develops and implements an integrated plan that builds year after year to lead the children, youth and adults within our community to faith in Christ and on to spiritual maturity.
· Supervises all children’s, youth and parent’s programs that will fulfill these objectives.
· Develops a comprehensive family ministry program.
· Assists in leading and managing the adult/parent ministries which include facilitating family conferences, seminars and retreats.
· Actively participates in all worship services and staff meetings.
· Develops a ministry which enables parents to effectively evangelize and disciple their children.
· Builds a team of leaders through recruiting, vision casting, discipling, mentoring, and supervising to do the work of ministry.
· Provides counseling and spiritual direction to children, youth, and parents on an individual basis.
· Reviews and selects curriculum and educational materials to fulfill these objectives.
· Ensures that the facilities and leadership enable a safe and healthy environment for our children, youth and adults to grow.
· Establishes a process to educate parents on children’s issues and keep them informed of our relevant ministries.
· Establishes goals and objectives to measure ministry effectiveness.
· Administrates the ministry through effective planning and maintaining the budget, and delegating tasks.
· Have a blast while serving the Lord.
· Accountable to the Senior Pastor.
Expectations:
Invests 40 hours per week to:
· Growing the children’s, youth, and adult ministries spiritually and numerically
· Presenting quarterly updates and goals for these ministries to the Church at churchwide Family Meetings (business meetings).
· Presenting an annual Budget for your respective ministries and assist in creating a churchwide budget which will reflect these objectives.
· Participating in annual performance review.
· Staying current with children’s, youth and family ministry practices by reading widely and attending relevant conferences.
