Children’s Minister - Full Time

OBMC is a growing independent Methodist church in Orange Beach, AL. We are searching for a qualified candidate to take leadership over our children’s ministry. Our Children’s Minister directs and manages the church’s ministries for all children up to 6th grade, while also being engaged in the overall life of our church family and local community.

Job Title: Children’s Minister

Full-Time Salaried Employee (Exempt Status)

Compensation: Starting at $50,000/year based on experience

Schedule: 40 hours/week

Reports to: Senior Pastor

Volunteers: Kids Club Volunteers, Nursery Volunteers

Specific Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

The Children’s Minister will build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to ministry for children and serving as a spiritual leader. The Children’s Minister will be confident in their leadership and communication abilities to engage effectively with children and parents. He/She will also be able to prioritize the safety and security of the children in their care. In addition to discipling the children already involved in our church family, the Children’s Minister will be engaged in the local Orange Beach community to support our local children and families.

This team member will:

• Coordinate and oversee all children related activities for children up to 6th grade, including weekly meetings and special events.

• Work in collaboration with other church ministries.

• Communicate effectively with parents, children and volunteers.

• Manage the ministry as a well-organized program.

• Preach and teach relevant lessons that help children grow in their faith.

• Teach theology from a historical Wesleyan perspective and consistent with the Orange Beach Methodist Church Statement of Doctrine and Belief.

• Prioritize organization and scheduling in order to give parents the information required to plan effectively for their children.

• Work in conjunction with a team of adult leaders to design and direct the ministry.

• Recruit, equip, and deploy children ministry volunteers.
