Minister of Youth (Salaried Part-time) Job Description
Principle Purpose
- The Minister of Youth is called by God to follow Christ in a life of discipleship, using the leadership gifts given by the Holy Spirit to lead the church in carrying out the Great Commission for the purpose of expanding the kingdom of God
Qualifications
- The Minister of Youth will be a Christian
- Will have a definite call to the ministry
- Will hold to Scriptures as being divinely inspired and without error
- Doctrinal position will be consistent with the statement of faith set forth in The Baptist Faith and Message
- Will be properly trained for the position through formal education and/or practical experience
- Obtain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a passenger designation to support a bus ministry coordinated with the Children’s Ministry
- Must be willing to submit to a thorough background check
Responsibilities
- Guide the youth ministry family to define, communicate, and implement its purpose, vision, and strategy
- Guide the development of the youth ministry calendar and coordinate youth ministry lead teams
- Coordinate the enlisting, training, and motivating of adults to serve in youth ministry in cooperation with the nominating committee
- Fine-tune skills in leading, administering, ministering, and communicating through a structured reading plan, high-quality conferences, and formal education
- Coordinate the creation of the annual youth ministry budget proposal and administer that budget as approved by the Finance Committee
- Assist the youth organizations in providing opportunities for members of the youth ministry family to be directly involved in missions and ministry, both locally and away
- Coordinate the training and mentoring of members of the youth ministry family who sense a call to ministry vocations
- Coordinate planning to ensure Christian youth experience authentic worship personally, with the youth group, and wit the full church body
- Coordinate planning to ensure youth experience true fellowship within the body of Christ
- Serve as an integral member of the pastor ministries team and give full support to the leadership role of the Senior Pastor
Hours and Compensation
- The Minister of Youth position is considered part-time and will be expected to work an average of 20 hours per week
- This time will consist of responsibilities on Sunday and Wednesday, as well as preparation time for teaching, timely staff meeting attendance, office hours, time spent ministering to youth and their families through activities, visitations, discipleship etc. When necessary, the Youth Pastor will be expected to invest additional time beyond 20 hours per week
- Compensation is commensurate with education/training experience. Compensation will be in the form of weekly salary.
- A personal reimbursement account will be provided to cover mileage and other out-of-pocket expenses incurred by the employee.
