Personal Qualifications—The Lead Pastor will:

  • Fulfill the biblical qualifications for an Elder.
  • Be able to give testimony to his love for the Lord and call to pastoral ministry.
  • Have a deep passion to understand and teach the truths of God’s Word.
  • Love people and be able to create and sustain positive relationships with them.
  • Be characterized by emotional health which leads to resilience despite inevitable disappointments.
  • Be passionate about the mission of the church to connect, grow and serve.


Professional Competencies: The Lead Pastor will be gifted:

  1. As a communicator, able to craft and deliver biblical and relevant sermons that effectively speak to both new and maturing Christians.
  2. As an organizational leader with experience guiding a congregation into a new season of ministry, one that includes more effective engagement with residents in the community.
  3. In providing care for the spiritual well-being of the congregation with love and humility while being strengthened by discernment and prayer.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Preaching—the Lead Pastor is responsible for preaching and will do so in a manner that is both biblical and relevant.
  • Corporate Worship—the Lead Pastor is responsible for planning and orchestrating worship services which are relevant and faithful to Scripture. This responsibility is shared with Staff.
  • Leadership—the Lead Pastor will guide and empower the Consistory and Staff in such a way that unifies the congregation around a shared vision for the future.
  • Pastoral Care—the Lead Pastor will assure timely pastoral care for those seeking baptism, marriage, healing, encouragement, and spiritual direction.


Expectations – The Lead Pastor shall:

  1. Meet or exceed the requirements for ordination as a Minister of the Word in the Alliance of Reformed Churches. Consequently, he will be ordained or be ordainable as such, though ordained individuals from other historically Reformed denominations will be considered.
  2. Support the Consistory of Faith Church.
  3. Affirm the Creeds and Confessions of the ARC.
  4. Affirm a traditional of view marriage, gender, and human sexuality.


Supervisory Relationships:

  • The Lead Pastor reports to and is accountable to the Admin Team of the Consistory.
  • The Lead Pastor supervises the second ordained pastor, as well as paid and volunteer staff.
