Children, Youth, and Family Minister

St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church

Job Description

St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church’s Children, Youth, and Family Minister is a joy-filled, Jesus-following, transparent, committed, and curious leader working full-time to serve children and youth, their families, and the volunteer ministers who work with children and youth. The Children, Youth, and Family Minister is highly adaptive, creative, and brings enthusiasm and appropriate care for children and youth.

St. Martin’s is presently experiencing rapid growth with many new families with young children. Our Wonder Church service – an alternative and highly participatory Eucharist services – draws families with a diversity of church backgrounds, who appreciate the engagement and welcome they find at that service. We are looking for a faithful Christian who can imagine remaining at the parish for 4-6 years to grow continuity in our youth and children’s programming. Seminary education is not required, but fluency with Scripture and Protestant theology is essential, and familiarity with the Episcopal Church is preferred. Demonstrated experience in ministry is important.

About St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church

We are a welcoming and inclusive community of faith grounded in the rich Episcopal tradition of sacramental worship and ministry, located in the heart of Brookhaven, Georgia in the great city of Atlanta. We believe you will find in this church a community who loves God and who cares for each other; a community who welcomes all with open arms and open hearts. St. Martin’s is a diverse community of faith and invites all to join us for worship, fellowship, outreach opportunities, fun, and getting to know our neighbors, near and far.

St. Martin’s offers three distinct worship services inside the church most Sundays. Services are mask-optional and communion is served.

Formation for all ages is offered on Sundays during the program year at 10:00 a.m. On the first Sunday of each month, we bring our whole community together in one worship Service of Holy Eucharist at 10:00 a.m. We combine elements of our 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. services and welcome all ages to worship and celebrate that we are one body in Christ. We enjoy a family feast in Gable Hall following the service.

Our 9:00 a.m. Wonder Church service is a huge area of growth for us right now, particularly with families with very young children. Wonder Church is an alternative service geared toward children and youth and their families.
