Associate Pastor

The Associate Pastor’s role is lead and coordinate the care efforts of Synder. The scope of work will be congregational care, pastoral counseling, senior adult and other ministerial assignments.

Associate Pastor reports directly to the senior pastor.

Congregational Care

  1. Visitation of hospitalized members, shut-ins, and the bereaved.
  2. Clear communication to the ministerial staff and general staff of
  3. hospitalized or bereaved members and attenders.
  4. Leads and coordinates the ministerial staff, and lay leadership (such as
  5. Sunday School Leadership) to provide care for the members of Snyder in times of hospitalization, grief, marital problems, divorce and other family and individual crises.
  6. Be available to church members who simply need a few minutes to talk through a problem.
  7. Conduct Funerals and Weddings.
  8. Oversee Deacon Flock ministries.
  9. Oversee Bereavement ministry team.
  10. Oversee Prayer ministries and church prayer list.
  11. Create environments that will help members develop faith in certain life
  12. events or stages such as grief support groups, marriage enrichment groups and conferences, classes on parenting, and divorce care groups.

• Some of these will be done in collaboration with other staff members. For example a parenting class or conference would be done in collaborations with the Student and Children’s Ministers, a host of volunteers and in coordination with the Communications Director.

Counseling

  1. Provide general Christian counseling. This counseling should be consistent with Snyder’s purpose statement, its eleven bedrock beliefs, always aligned with the authority of scripture and informed by sound psychological principles of counseling.
  2. Offering pre-marital counseling of a couples to be married at Snyder, or by the ministerial staff, will be a priority.
  3. Assist staff members with counseling issues.

12. Develop good working relationships with local Christian counseling organizations, such as the Fayetteville Family Life Center for consultation, referral and supervision.

• Maintaining a reference list for area counselors and their specialties will be expected, and key in assisting staff member with counseling issues.

Senior Adults

13. Plan trips, ministry projects, and programs for senior adults.

  1. Serve as staff liaison with Prime Timers.
  2. Serve as staff liaison for the Homebound Ministry and the Philadelphia
  3. Ministry.
  4. Provide support for worship in such places as Heritage Place, and other
  5. retirement communities.

Other

17. Participate fully as a member of the Lead Ministerial Staff.

  1. Assist in worship as needed which may include preaching, baptizing or
  2. administering communion.
  3. Pastor, mentor, disciple, pray for those with whom he works, creating
  4. opportunities for community and spiritual formation.
  5. Support and assist in any way needed in all church programs.
  6. Meet regularly with Deacons and assigned committees and ministry
  7. teams.
  8. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
