Position Overview:

The Associate Pastor will work closely with the Senior Pastor to shepherd the church’s family ministry, provide pastoral care to families, and lead and or support family-focused programs, events, and outreach. This role will lead and oversee volunteers developing, delivering and administering Sunday School and Youth & Children’s programs and activities. This role emphasizes biblical leadership, relational discipleship, and spiritual growth within the family unit.  

Key Position Responsibilities:

·      Family Ministry Leadership:

·      Plan, lead, and oversee family children’s and youth programs.

·      Coordinate family outreach events, mission trips, and community engagement initiatives.

·      Work with the Senior Pastor to develop and implement a family ministry strategic plan aligned with the church’s vision and mission. 

·      Pastoral Care & Counseling:

·      Assist the Pastor and Deacons in Conducting home visits, one-on-one counseling, and group counseling for families.

·      Assist the Pastor in pastoral care at funerals, bereavement, and crisis situations for families. 

·      Teaching & Preaching:

·      Preach or teach on designated Sundays or as assigned.

·      Lead Bible studies and discipleship programs for families and youth.

·      Ensure programs are in place and operating to deliver teaching to our children. 

·      Collaboration & Support:

·      Assist the Senior Pastor in church-wide planning, event coordination, and ministry oversight.

·      Partner with other ministry leaders (children’s, youth, worship, Sunday school, outreach) to integrate family ministry into the broader church mission 

·      Administrative Duties:

·      Oversee family ministry (Youth and Children’s) budget and resources.

·      Maintain records of family ministry activities and reports to the church board.

·      Affirm and adhere to Emmaus Personnel and Safety Security Policies and Procedures ensuring a safe environment for our children, youth and families.

Position Qualifications:

·      Born-again believer led by the Spirit of God; agrees with the church’s Statement of Faith 

·      Ordination in a Baptist denomination (preferred).

·      Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, or related field (preferred).

·      Pastoral and family ministry experience.

·      Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

·      Ability to work collaboratively with staff, elders, and volunteers.
