Rural Church near Charlottesville, VA Seeks Pastor: Byrd Chapel Church, a newly independent church located in Kent's Store, VA is seeking a pastor to lead our congregation in spiritual growth as we move forward to a new chapter of our 200 years of serving the Lord in our rural community. We are looking for a Pastor who will lead and teach prayerfully and compassionately, is rooted in the written Word of God, and will focus on meeting our congregation's and community's spiritual needs.
Duties include, but are not limited to, leading Sunday worship services that encourage participation from all ages, giving sacraments, arranging pastoral visitations, directing and supporting mission, youth and fellowship activities, and supporting operations and planning in collaboration with the church council/leadership.
Salary and benefits commensurate with experience. Housing is provided (parsonage). There is an opportunity for this position to be considered on a full-time or part-time basis for the right candidate.
Byrd Chapel is recently disaffiliated from the UMC. With a long Methodist tradition, we are embarking on a new stage in our 250 year history in this neighborhood and looking to continue Christ's work locally and in the wider community. Described as a small country church that is mission focused and family oriented, the building and grounds include a picnic shelter, playground, Sunday School wing, kitchen and dining hall, and a graveyard. The sanctuary includes piano and organ and we are looking for a leader to revive our congregation after a difficult and long separation from the UMC.
