Corinth Friends Meeting, a small and welcoming Quaker meeting in Ivor, is seeking a compassionate and spiritually grounded Pastor to lead our congregation. The ideal candidate will deeply commit to Quaker values: simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship. This role involves providing spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and guidance while fostering a nurturing environment for both long-time members and newcomers.
Key Responsibilities:
● Spiritual Leadership: Lead worship services focusing on Bible Teaching, Quaker traditions including Open Worship, the discernment of the Spirit and following Christ. Encourage and nurture the spiritual growth of the congregation.
● Pastoral Care: Provide compassionate pastoral care to members of the congregation, including counseling, visitations and support during times of crisis, illness, or life transitions.
● Community Building: Foster a sense of community within the meeting by encouraging participation in worship, committee work, and other church activities. Support efforts to engage with the broader local community through service and outreach.
● Administrative Duties: (for Full Time position) Work collaboratively with the Meeting Elders and various committees to organize events, worship times and other activities. Create weekly bulletins containing announcements, prayer concerns, order of service, etc.
● Personal Spiritual Growth: Devote time daily to Bible reading, prayer, discernment, and personal spiritual growth. Qualifications: ● A strong personal commitment to Quaker faith and practice
● Experience in pastoral care, spiritual leadership or a related field
● Ability to articulate and live out the core Quaker values and principles..
● Excellent interpersonal, communications and organizational skills. ● Experience in a small church or Quaker meeting setting is preferred.
● Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and committees.
● Formal theological education is preferred but not required: relevant life experience and a strong spiritual grounding are equally valued.
Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position may include salary, housing allowance and other benefits as negotiated.
