South Church, Hartford, CT: South Church is a church in the congregational tradition. We have been in ministry for over 350 years, and we are dedicated to the “Great Commission” given to us by Jesus, to “…go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
Associate Pastor: Provides leadership and vision to ministries of South Church, especially the youth ministries. Supports the Senior Pastor in ministry and discipleship. Leads outreach initiatives.
Attends Meetings of: Servant Leadership Team (SALT); Church Office Staff; Church Leadership Boards.
Qualifications:
· A Christian (someone who professes Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior).
· A person with excellent communication, organizational, and relational skills.
· A self-starter who generates new ideas and programs and carries them out to fruition.
· A person who is willing to boldly speak Biblical truth on and off church grounds.
Education and Experience:
· Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field and/or seminary degree.
· Certification, Licensure, or Other Accreditation: If not already an ordained minister, we must see movement toward ordination within the first nine months of employment. Must be able to pass a background check.
Job Description:
The Associate Pastor of South Church is called to:
· Spiritual Guidance: Providing support and guidance to the church and community.
· Teaching: Preaching and teaching as needed in regular services or small group settings.
· Worship: Developing and leading different aspects of worship services and special events.
· Outreach: Developing and executing outreach programs.
· Operations: Overseeing church staff and financial operations.
· Volunteers: Recruiting and encouraging volunteers to serve the church.
· Relationships: Building and maintaining relationships in our congregation and our community.
The three main focus points for our Associate Pastor are:
· To lead and/or oversee programs for our youth and family ministries.
· To develop and execute outreach opportunities and expand our reach in our community.
· To recruit and encourage volunteers in our congregation, and to oversee the church staff.
Hours and Benefits:
· This is a 40-hour per week position (Sunday -Thursday).
· Salary is competitive.
