Worship Minister (Full Time) Job Description

Objective: To lead a comprehensive culture of engaging worship at Hickory Grove by equipping and empowering volunteers and creating engaging environments that help multiple generations encounter the presence of God and take next steps with Jesus.

Key skillsets:

• Vocal and instrumental talent.

• The ability to lead and unify groups of musicians and worship leaders to carry out the mission.

• Speaking skills that support what’s happening musically and spiritually in a worship environment.

• Proficiency and/or familiarity with technology, software, and media creation and usage. We currently use the following tools:

• ProPresenter

• Services (Planning Center)

• Movie (Mac)

• Lightkey

• Allen Heath Soundboards

• Spotify

• Canva

• Castr Streaming

• Facebook, YouTube, Instagram

• Relational intelligence that will serve to establish engaging worship environments across all ages, generations, and spiritual backgrounds and journeys.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Oversee the music, technology, environment and all other aspects of the weekly worship experience of the church, including age group specific weekly worship environments.

• Oversee all aspects of production that come along with all our worship environments (lighting, sound, video, media, and all other elements).

• Coordinate with the Senior Pastor to ensure a worship experience that is effective at helping people experience the life-changing presence of God, giving them opportunities to take a next step with Jesus.

• Recruit, train, coordinate, and disciple volunteers to use their gifts and abilities to carry-out our weekly worship experiences, including age group worship environments.

• Research trends and methods to keep our church effective at specifically reaching the unchurched through our worship environment, including the use of on-line engagement.

• Create and carry out worship experiences for special occasions and events such as: Christmas Eve services, Good Friday night of worship, hosted conferences, age or gender specific retreats.

• Assist the leaders of our kids and youth ministries in carrying out their worship environments.

• Shepherd and care for all volunteers under the umbrella of our worship ministry.

• Work cohesively with our entire ministerial team to carry out the overall mission and vision of the church.

• Assist the senior pastor in leading the church to know and follow Jesus Christ.

We are seeking a full-time worship minister to lead a community-focused, growing, multi-generational church in the ever-growing city of Independence, KY. Independence is the third largest city in Kentucky by land mass, located in the northern region of the state just 20 minutes south of Cincinnati. Hickory Grove has a long history of doing whatever it takes to reach its community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are so blessed to have a 43-acre campus located in a well-traveled part of south Kenton County. Due to recent growth, we are making plans to build a new worship center on our campus. We have a strong ministry to preschoolers, elementary age kids, and youth grades 6-12. We are a multi-generational church with lots of infants all the way up to wonderful senior adults who have supported our mission to “Bless NKY Build God’s Family” for decades. Our new worship minister will have the opportunity to lead multiple generations into the presence of God each week, people who are curious about Jesus, people who are new in their walk with Jesus, and people who have been on their faith journey for a long time. Our worship is modern with some acoustical accents and respect for tradition. We use a mild to moderate amount of production and place a huge emphasis on engagement. We are a church who simply wants to gather together as a family and be engaged by those on the platform to look to Jesus and take a next step with Him.
