Minister of Music

The Minister of Music is responsible to God and the body of Christ,

under the leadership of the Pastor, for guiding a Christ-centered ministry that utilizes

music to lead, disciple, and equip the people of Westmeade Baptist Church to worship

God biblically and authentically; so that God is glorified and Jesus is exalted by

everything that has breath to do so.

Minister:

• Love the people of Westmeade Baptist Church sacrificially and minister to them for

God’s glory and their good

• Connect disciples to carry out the Great Commission through serving locally,

nationally, and globally

• Serve for the glory of God so that others would desire to be drawn into His presence

• Partner with the ministerial staff in meeting needs of church members and guests in

order for them to see the Gospel lived out

• Share in the pastoral care of our church family along with other staff members. To

include hospital visits as needed, and periodic in-home visits of those not able to

attend in person

• Attend training opportunities that further develop ministry skills and passion

• Cooperate with local church leaders in promoting activities of mutual interest

• Be available to fulfill Pastoral responsibilities as called on by the Senior Pastor

Music:

• Utilizing the medium of music, implement a healthy ministry area that glorifies God,

encourages a culture of authentic worship (individually and collectively), disciples our

people in the overall context of worship; Ministers to church members of all ages

• Lead the planning, organizing and conducting of the music ministry including

vocalists, praise teams, instrumentalists, and the audio/visual teams

• Recruit, enlist, and train leaders to serve well in the Music Ministry

• Assist the Senior Pastor in planning all worship gatherings

• Provide music leadership and support, as needed, with other ministry areas (Ex. -

Student Ministry and Kids Ministry)

• Work in tandem with the Ministerial Staff in the overall ministry of Westmeade Baptist

Church

• Serve as a music resource for special occasions such as weddings, funerals, etc.

• Plan, organize, and promote special occasion events such as concerts, retreats,

festivals, etc. in order to utilize the resources of music to fulfill the mission of the

church

Administration:

• Perform various administrative duties essential to the Music Ministry, such as:

maintain music library, materials, supplies, musical instruments & equipment;

maintain copyright leases and agreements on music as needed; promoting the

Music Ministry through all print and digital formats

• Prepare and administer an annual budget for the Music Ministry

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ

• Embrace, demonstrate and promote the Mission of Westmeade Baptist Church

• Biblical and Theological alignment with leadership, membership, and worship

• Agree and adhere to the Baptist Faith & Message

• Possess a strong background in musical training and experience

• Capable of leading and teaching the Music Ministry Team during weekly rehearsals

so they can best be prepared from a Musical standpoint, as well as an Audio/Visual

standpoint for Sunday and Wednesday leadership opportunities

• Innovative in the use of music in a worship setting

• Practices enthusiasm in leading others in musical worship

• College and/or Seminary Degree required plus Ministry experience on a Church

Staff. Length and extent of experience will be weighted according to degree and/or

advanced degree(s)

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:

• Maintain a personal practice of reaching the lost with the Gospel, as well as invest

the Truth of the Word of God into fellow followers of Christ

• Must be capable of effective communication, be well organized, possess solid work

ethic and be team-oriented.

• Discernment of when to lead and when to be led

• Gifted and confident in building relationships for the purpose of discipleship, using

various forms of communication

• Ability to work with people of various temperaments, talents, passions, and church

backgrounds; Possess & demonstrate positive interpersonal skills

• Basic understanding of Audio/Video equipment

• Proficient in various digital platforms (We currently use Planning Center,

ProPresenter, Music Stand, and SongSelect, as well as YouTube for live-streaming

services. Understanding systems like Q-Sys and Dante is also beneficial)
