Job Summary:
First Baptist Church of LaPlace is prayerfully seeking an exemplary Student Pastor who will provide visionary oversight and pastoral leadership to the students (6th-12th grade) of our community and church. The Student Pastor will partner with parents and volunteer leaders in engaging students with good news of the Gospel, discipling students to be devoted followers of Christ, and encouraging them to live on mission in a post-Christian culture.
The main objective of the Student Pastor will be to connect with our students, provide guidance and support as they grow in Christ, teach them how to apply God’s Word to their own lives, and to disciple them to live for God’s glory. The Student Pastor will have to be present in the lives of the students in their various contexts. We are seeking a Student Pastor who will provide a place where our students can feel safe, loved, and a sense of belonging. We are seeking for a Student Pastor who will build relationships with students by standing on the Word of God to have a healthy student ministry at First Baptist Church LaPlace. The Student Pastor will give up to six hours per week to help First Baptist Church LaPlace fulfill Acts 1:8 to carry out the Great Commission in our community and with our mission partnerships.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Teach, lead, and facilitate our Sunday morning small groups and our Sunday Night or Midweek Wednesday Student Gatherings.
· Plan and coordinate discipleship opportunities for students such as summer camps, conference, and retreats.
· Plan and coordinate fellowship and outreach events/activities for students to reach their peers for Christ.
· Plan and lead mission opportunities for students and their families to live out their faith through serving locally and globally through our mission partnerships.
· Create a fun, welcoming, and safe environment that encourages students to grow in their relationship with Christ and with one another.
· Evaluate all student ministry programs and student curriculum of the church.
· Prepare an annual Student Ministry budget and present to the Stewardship Team for review and approval.
· Create and Develop a Student Ministry Team to provide a vision for a healthy student ministry which helps assimilate new students, new volunteers, and families into the life of the church to live on mission for Christ.
· Build relationships with students by practicing the ministry of presence and be an influence with students in our community.
· Provide Biblical counseling and support to students and families facing personal challenges or crises.
· Be a faithful church member by attending all church services, church events, staff meetings, and church meetings that involve your area of ministry.
· Assist the Senior Pastor in hospital visits and ministering to the needs of the congregation.
· Will be given the opportunity to preach on Sunday mornings with the current sermon series.
· Assist the Senior Pastor in developing and leading a mission strategy for First Baptist Church LaPlace to live out the Great Commission locally and globally. (up to six hours a week will be needed)
· Carry out any additional duties as needed in the life of the church as determined by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications:
· A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Him through exercising daily spiritual disciplines such as Bible reading, prayer, fasting, scripture memorization, personal worship, and etc.
· A clear call to pastoral ministry and a love for student ministry.
· Able to meet the personal qualifications of being a pastor from 1 Timothy 3.
· A strong understanding of Christian teachings and principles.
· A commitment to the mission, vision, doctrines, and values of First Baptist Church LaPlace.
· Possess strong motivational skills, high level organizational skills, and the willingness and flexibility to work in a church setting.
· Ability to work as a team player with the church staff and other leaders.
· Ability to pass a background check.
· 4+ years of experience in serving in Student Ministry
· A bachelor’s degree in a related field (divinity, theology, student ministry, Christian education, pastoral ministry) is preferred.
Chain of Command:
The Associate Pastor to Students and Missions is supervised and reports directly to the Senior Pastor, as per the Policies and Procedures Manual of First Baptist Church LaPlace.
Compensation and Package:
This is a full-time Associate Pastor of Students and Missions Position
· $50,000 to $60,000 salary range (negotiable based on education and experience)

· Potential Caskey Scholarship through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s seminary degree.
· Tuition free child-care for any children in preschool from 1yrs old up to PreK-4 through First Baptist Church LaPlace’s Wee Care Ministry.

First Baptist Church of LaPlace was founded in 1957, located in LaPlace, LA in what is called the River Parishes of Greater New Orleans. We believe in sharing life together and living to make Christ known to those without Christ. In 2024, we are averaging around 110-120 in our weekly worship gatherings. In January 2025, we will move back into our rebuilt worship space from Hurricane Ida.
