Emmanuel is a loving, lively Episcopal church located in Virginia Beach, Virginia that appreciates a wide variety of music and enjoys robust congregational singing. We are seeking a part-time (15 - 20 hours per week) Organist/Choir Director who will plan and administer the music programs of the parish with a broad understanding of the importance of music in enriching worship and of inviting the broad participation of the Emmanuel community.
The choir director/organist will be responsible for playing piano and (electronic) organ for worship services, special church events and seasonal observances, and for preparing musical groups for participation. We currently enjoy an adult choir, a children’s choir, and a handbell choir. The position is salaried, and there is flexibility in hours (outside of church services). Salary is in the $25,000 - $30,000 range, depending on education and experience as well as negotiable responsibilities.
