This position supports the mission of City on a Hill Church Somerville through thoughtful worship leadership and Christian education. The ideal candidate is spiritually-mature, musically-gifted, theologically-grounded, and experienced in discipleship. Diverse candidates from various backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
CHURCH SNAPSHOT:
City on a Hill Church Somerville is a diverse, gospel-centered church that is seeking to shine and send the light of Christ in Somerville and beyond for generations to come. We are a part of a family of four independent “City on a Hill Churches.” We are a 7 year-old church plant with an average attendance of 120-150 each Sunday. The majority of our congregation is in their 20s or 30s, we have 35+ children each week.
Our worship is both contemporary and liturgical. We like to blend modern CCM or gospel music with classic hymns, prayers, and responsive readings. We have a strong worship team with multiple talented singers and musicians. The ideal worship set is musically excellent, spirit-filled, and theologically rich. Sample songs that we’ve done in the past few months: Firm Foundation by Maverick City, Christus Victor by the Gettys, The Blessing by Melvin Crispell III, Three in One by Watermark Music, Abide with Me by The Worship Initiative, Praise by Elevation, and You Are Good by Israel and New Breed.
NEIGHBORHOOD SNAPSHOT:
Somerville is a dense city that shares a border with Cambridge and Boston. Somerville is a very well educated and diverse community with close proximity to the universities and high-capacity career opportunities.
