Job Title: Girl’s Student Minister

Summary

The Girl’s Student Minister is responsible for growing and overseeing all programs directed for students who call St. Andrew home. These programs are designed and implemented to grow and mature students wholistically in discipleship. The Student Minister builds bridges from outreach events to create an environment where all students feel like they can belong before they have to believe. The Student Minister also helps to fulfill the mission and vision of St. Andrew Methodist Church.

Program Responsibilities:

·        Plan and execute all aspects of Sunday morning programming including but not limited to announcements, coordination of worship, message, and small groups.

·        Support our Sunday evening programming, including planning and executing both on and off-campus events.

·        Assist with finding, equipping, and encouraging adults to lead small groups.

·        Prepare weekly communication to all adults involved in volunteering.

·        Support Life Groups by assisting with any logistics needed from groups and connecting all students with opportunities to join a Life Group.

·        Oversee Home Days, Lunch Bunch, and all other Student Ministry Programming.  

·        Attend weekly Student Ministry staff meetings plus other meetings, staff events, and trainings as needed.

·        Be an available presence for students to come to for guidance and discipleship.

·        Track student contact work daily.

Outreach Responsibilities:

·        Establish relationships with nearby schools and administrations to make St. Andrew an available resource for their students.

·        Connect with Plano YoungLife and other Christian clubs in local middle and high schools.

·        Attend student events, games, and performances to show support for our students and create a St. Andrew presence outside of the church building.

Special Event and Trip Responsibilities:

·        Assist with planning and executing all Student Ministry events, including recruiting volunteers.

·        Attend all Student Ministry trips & events, unless coordinated with the Student Ministry Project Manager in advance.

·        Intuitive to the student experience

·        Relationally available for discipleship opportunities

Education and Experience

·        Three or more years’ experience working with students, in either a work or volunteer capacity; Student Ministry experience preferred

·        High School diploma required; Bachelor’s or Seminary degree preferred.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt, full-time position. The schedule is flexible dependent upon programming, but the days and hours of work must meet the minimum of 36.5 hours a week. Sundays 8:30-12:30 are required. Significant evening and weekend hours are required.

Travel

Travel is expected on all Student Ministry trips, unless coordinated beforehand with the Student Ministry Project Manager.

St. Andrew Student Ministry is a part of a growing and thriving community in Plano, Texas at a church that has seen growth both spiritually and numerically over the last several years. We are seeking a passionate lover of Jesus who will provide programming and ministry to students who attend St. Andrew. We believe strongly that before we can expect someone to believe, that they first must feel like they belong. We want someone who will be active in the community in finding partnerships with local schools, parachurch organizations such as Young Life and FCA, other area churches, and more. We seek someone who would rather be in the stands on Friday night than sitting in an office editing a Sunday message.

The Ministry

Our student ministry averages over 200 students at our summer camp each year and 120 students on a standard Sunday morning. We do not seek to do student ministry the way it has always been done. Nor are we of the “build it and they will come” mentality. Instead, we bring ministry wherever we go, and we live on mission.
